Re: L&H Station - Hennepin County - Minneapolis Public Schools site
A trailer was dropped off at the old school district site, and someone was marking buried lines this morning, so there may be something happening here finally.

And a mini-fridge. It's a coffee bar (or so says the caption). I can't think of any more high-end way to get my coffee than to microwave it in my bathroom.

Re: Labeling the Transit System
I was at a professional conference a couple months ago in Orlando that had 30 or 40 shuttle routes between hotels and the convention center, they gave them all numbers and colors for some reason, which led to things like the "blue" route and the "light blue" and the grey and the ...

Re: Hiawatha-Minnehaha Avenue Development & Grain Elevators/Freight Corridor
With the light rail there I'd say we shouldn't plan for this area to be a freeway area in the future. Remember, comp plans and zoning are aspirational, it's not about what is, but what we want to be. Do we want this corridor to be a highway, or do we want something better?

Or, an example from this election, people who filled their ballots to do as much as they could to deny Hoch a victory.

Re: Minneapolis Mayoral Election 2017
I would bet that far more Hoch voters ranked Frey later than Frey voters ranked Hoch.
FWIW I voted Hodges - Dehn - Frey so my vote didn't elect the mayor!

Re: Minneapolis Mayoral Election 2017
The fact that 60% of Hoch voters went to Frey with Hodges and Dehn each getting 20% should send a really strong signal that there really was a Hoch/Frey camp and a "Dehn/Hodges/NLP" camp

Ward 9 voter checking in here, and yeah our candidates were a real tire fire this year. I'm very worried about what Cano will do to try and seek and maintain power when she's not the only clearly progressive person of color on the council.

Digging deeper into her posts on E-democracy because what else would I be doing on a Friday night, she appears to be behind some pretty serious (and probably unfounded) accusations against Park Board District 2 Kale Severson. I'm not going to post them because I don't think that's really fair, but t...

Re: Minneapolis City Council and Park Board Elections 2017
According to the City Charter, the Mayor is required to release a summary of the budget by a certain date, and the Charter lays out what specifically is required. Usually this has meant a budget speech on or before that day, with the full budget being released at the same time. This year, Hodges rel...

For me, park board at large is unique in that there are really 4 candidates I'd be happy with, so instead of of picking the least bad people to rank, I'm trying to figure out who is the least good for Park Board.

Yeah it's one thing to be honest and admit where your knowledge is lacking, and demonstrate a desire to learn more, but a literal "I don't know anything about that" or like Ron Peterson did at a Ward 9 forum, he passed on about a third of the question.

There were permit issues for a while, but that's been taken care of, but apparently there's some HUD money involved somehow so the contractor needs to do some paperwork to ensure they're hiring enough minority owned businesses and such so that's causing dealy now.

Re: Minneapolis City Council and Park Board Elections 2017
I really don't understand why people like that run for office in the first place. First, how do you decide to run for an office where you have no idea what the common issues are for that position. And then go to a forum or answer questionnaire where you flat out say "I don't know anything about...

So, some things I learned at the latest Corcoran Land Use meeting. Before this stabbing, some outreach people from St Stephens talked to the people living under the bridge. Previous to this spring that group had been living behind the Target, but moved after one of the members of their group was bru...

Re: Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board
I think that a lot of people saying "let's compromise and call it Lake Maka Ska" are really just objecting to the name change in a socially acceptable way (especially older people, and I don't think that anyone that's advocated for it here objects to the overall name change, to be clear) b...
