Great post 1200. Being a sort of downtown dweller (work DT and live just across the bridge), I feel like downtown does cater to the commuter and not the resident.

and by the way....I was just in Denver about a month ago and 16th Street Mall puts Nicollet Mall to shame as far as the activity and all the retail up and down the mall. I lived in Denver at the end of the 90s and back then, they were about even. Nicollet is sketchy in areas and looks run down.

How about just reducing the bus traffic on Nicollet to electric buses which are free and only run up and down the mall. Get all the other routes and taxis off the mall. Agreed.....the facade on the 6th, 7th and Nicollet sides is truly awful. I'm surprised there is as much retail inside as there is. You would think potential tennants would take one look at the outside and say NO WAY.
