Re: 700 Central Ave. NE (former Archive condos)
In response to your comment about 1970s properties in the St. Anthony East and West neighborhoods.....this is a result of housing being torn down in preparation for the I-335 freeway which was supposed to cut through the neighborhood and connect 94 to 35W. I live in St. Anthony East neighborhood and...

Re: 700 Central Ave. NE (former Archive condos)
I know that a developer owns the Totino's site and has a fairly large plan for it. They ran into some problems though, because the Totino's building is in terrible shape and they want to rip it down, but some people felt it should remain due to the history, that was the last that I heard though....t...

Re: 700 Central Ave. NE (former Archive condos)
I think once some of these parcels get developed, things will kind of begin to snowball in this area. 700 Central, Pillsbury A Mill, Mill and Main, Totinos site, possibly Superior Plating. There is continuing growth in the area, but once some of these housing developments get done, I think it will r...

Re: New Target Building - (1001 Nicollet Mall)
I somehow don't see WCCO leaving their unique building on Nicollet Mall. And the Target store downtown already has a pharmacy and restrooms.

Re: 700 Central Ave. NE (former Archive condos)
Heard absolutely nothing about this recently. Someone does keep pasting the paper back up on the inside of the windows as it falls down and they also keep painting over the tags that seem to appear on the outside weekly. Other than that, the sign advertising the main level for Retail lease is still ...

Re: Minneapolis & St. Paul Fantasies and Speculations
Great post 1200. Being a sort of downtown dweller (work DT and live just across the bridge), I feel like downtown does cater to the commuter and not the resident.

Re: Minneapolis & St. Paul Fantasies and Speculations
and by the way....I was just in Denver about a month ago and 16th Street Mall puts Nicollet Mall to shame as far as the activity and all the retail up and down the mall. I lived in Denver at the end of the 90s and back then, they were about even. Nicollet is sketchy in areas and looks run down.

Re: Minneapolis & St. Paul Fantasies and Speculations
How about just reducing the bus traffic on Nicollet to electric buses which are free and only run up and down the mall. Get all the other routes and taxis off the mall. Denver has been doing this on 16th street mall for years and it seems to work great. The electric buses don't have all the exhaust ...

Courtney Love pretty much copied Kat Bjelland and Babes in Toyland, for her band Hole, after she was kicked out of Babes in Toyland. Even Courtney's kinderwhore look was copies from Kat, who still lives in NE Mpls.

Re: Nicollet Residences
I too, wish that this worked out better with the timing of Nieman Marcus' lease. A lot of people were very surprised that they stayed the last time their lease was up. I think it is even less likely for them to stay this time around. I'll cross my fingers though. One thing if they do move is maybe w...

Great news! I'm guessing the 2014 start date is because they want to be done with the apartment building first? Any other reason why they wouldn't start for 2 years?

Re: Block E
Agreed. I don't think they would get away with adding more than 1, maybe 2 floors to the east side of this block. Anything else would cause problems with the hotel.

Re: Nicollet Mall
I think they could re-do the facade of just the 4 story retail portion and leave the tower alone. Its my least favorite tall building downtown, but the street level at the base of the tower is not as bad as the street level of the retail portion. Of course I would love it they did something with the...

Re: Nicollet Mall
Agreed.....the facade on the 6th, 7th and Nicollet sides is truly awful. I'm surprised there is as much retail inside as there is. You would think potential tennants would take one look at the outside and say NO WAY.

Keep the movie theater, but turn it into an Art House movie theater and allow it to sell beer. Try to get Lucky Strike to take over the bowling alley vacated by Gameworks. Fill in the remaining street level retail with local restaurants and bars (no chains) and fill in the skyway area with places us...
