Re: Twin Cities' National and Global Image
The real issue is that these companies have no real allegiance to Minnesota. They'd rather move instead of offering higher wages to entice tech people to work for them. Because that's the real way you solve a labor shortage: Offer higher salaries. These large companies prefer that our governments in...

What should Minneapolis have done differently to keep Target from restructuring and laying off thousands of employees?

Re: Uptown Restaurant News
Don't forget the previous tenants, PrimeBar, had to pay TONS of money to Calhoun Square (over $5 million). That huge settlement was more than the value of the rent that was due over the 10 year lease that they signed. PrimeBar is basically still paying the rent for that space, which I imagine made i...

There is a rumor that Urban Bean will be taking over that space http://mspmag.com/Blogs/Foodie-File/Dec ... d-Expands/
It's mentioned in the very last paragraph of that article.

Could Planned Parenthood move into the clinic space? Ackerberg owns the parking lot in front of PP. If they could convince PP to move into the new development, maybe they could also get first crack at purchasing the existing PP site for a future development. Just spitballing. I'm having a hard time reconciling the real world Rick Christenson with retiredbanker though[/i] Me too, which is why I asked where the name Rick Christenson came from. I cannot find any post on this site where it was revealed. It just showed up one day. I haven't waded through all the past stuff o...

Re: Rumors!
Good point, I'm curious if the mods can tell us where the retiredbanker/Rick Christenson originally connection came from? After all, before all this started happening, if you typed "retiredbanker" on this forum it was automatically changed to "Rick Christenson". IIRC, out of the...

Re: Uptown General Topics & Development Map
I lived in two different Hornig buildings from 2008 to 2012. Both north of 25th St in the Wedge. They were both classic Hornig properties; 1960s/1970s-era buildings with open floor plans and carpet. I thought Hornig was a solidly good landlord. Responsive, and everything seemed to be maintained well...

Yeah, circa 2002, we stopped including inflation in the expenditures projection. But we do use inflation for revenue projections! Terrible gimmick.

Re: 2015 Legislative Session & Budget
Does anyone know if there have been serious discussions at the Capitol recently about including inflation in budget expenditure projections? Still can't believe that we stopped doing that. Thanks Roger Moe and Tim Pawlenty!

Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)
Unsurprisingly, an email to my park commissioner to question it a few weeks went entirely unanswered. But I guess it's probably asking too much for elected officials to be responsive to their constituents. I heard back from my commissioner. Not very satisfactory. His entire response: The Park Board...

I would prefer this be built near MOA instead of taking up downtown land that will soon be desirable due to its proximity to SWLRT and downtown.

Re: Downtown East Project (Ryan Companies / Wells Fargo)
Yeah, bad news, I think the City's agreement with Ryan and the MSFA prohibits naming rights for the "yard." I can't find the final version of the agreement, but here's a draft of the term sheet that the City agreed to: http://www.minneapolismn.gov/www/groups/public/@clerk/documents/webcont...
