Re: U of M Transitway
My map shows using the Green Line to 11th Ave, where the University connector would follow the old MILW ROW diagonally for two blocks where it would then join the streetcar tracks at 9th Ave and Washington. This would mean that there would be no capacity issues as the Blue Line and the university co...

Re: Minneapolis Streetcar System
Anyone know the ROW of Washington Ave through Downtown? Are there any possibilities of what a Washington Blvd could look like including streetcar? since I'm thinking about my streetcar ideas mapped here: http://goo.gl/maps/RILqM It currently appears to be 7 traffic lanes (counting the middle turn la...

Re: U of M Transitway
It also might take some of the strain off of the regular Green Line trains -- I can just imagine all of the students at the West Bank piling onto an already packed train coming out of downtown during rush hour. I realize my map is pie in the sky, but I really hope the future streetcars are interlin...

Is there any way to upload the file to the forum here for those of us who can't access dropbox?

Re: U of M Transitway
I thought about something similar... I put it in as a streetcar but the ROW is there to build it out as LRT-capable tracks... It would connect to the Maroon Line streetcar (Hennepin/Downtown/University/Riverside) and Green Line LRT at the Stadium Village stop... http://goo.gl/maps/fVd2S Also buildin...

Re: Northstar
Is this going to be another station where accommodations are not made for a third main? Seems like the investment to bump a track out and have a larger median suitable for a third track in the future could pay off nicely instead of having to redo platforms and possibly pedestrian bridges.

I wonder how being right under the approach to Rwy 17 affects the possibility of residential development near Cedar Grove station.

Re: Cedar and Franklin redesign idea
I like the idea of changing this, but I'm not sure if the expense of moving the LRT station and so much track would be justified. Additionally I think this freeway segment has the most potential for TOD along Hiawatha by turning Hiawatha into some sort of European-style boulevard with express lanes ...

Re: New Vikings LRT Station
I see a huge opportunity here to hopefully scoop up the old CP Ford Spur alignment. That ROW could really be valuable since West 7th between Davern and Lexington is high traffic and constrained ROW.

Re: Minneapolis & St. Paul Fantasies and Speculations
I know it's a little west than the map of the land bridge proposal, but I wonder why there's not a north-south connection between Clifton Place and LaSalle. Spruce Place likely couldn't go through due to the historic property on the south side of Oak Grove. Another option would be along the Willow P...

Re: New Vikings LRT Station
I think in the other thread it was noted there's no plans as part of CCLRT. My guess is the Vikings stadium plan may make relatively minor cosmetic changes to the plaza, but I can't imagine there will be a change in the platforms. I was just saying I wish there was hypothetically a center platform t...

Re: Minneapolis & St. Paul Fantasies and Speculations
I like the cap quite a bit, but I'd suggest a plaza surrounded by low-slung buildings near Nicollet, and higher buildings along LaSalle and 1st. It seems like these would sort of frame the are and draw activity towards Nicollet in the middle. Great idea though! Maybe a matching cap between Portland ...

Re: Northstar
Instead of just throwing hundreds of millions at BNSF for easements, I'd rather see a concrete agreement that uses the money to improve the corridor... triple track north to Coon Creek Jct, double track any remaining gaps to St. Cloud, etc. in return for generous rights for transit operations in the...
