Re: Allianz Field and Snelling-Midway Development
Big box can certainly be built in ways that work better within the city than a typical suburban design, but it usually isn't (the Midway Target is a good example of a missed opportunity). Costco could probably do well here... Home Depot once had plans for a store on the bus barn site, but they are h...

Re: Allianz Field and Snelling-Midway Development
Tiger Capital was the liquidator for Bon-Ton/Herberger's. I understand they pulled the Midway store from their property auction early last year because they were working directly with a buyer, but nothing seems to have happened on that front. It is quite possible that the interested party was Kraus ...

Re: Allianz Field and Snelling-Midway Development
There are rumors floating around that the (recently renovated) Midway Cub Foods will be closing. I don't know how much stock to take in that, but TCF customers have received notice that their in-store branch will be closing. Would love to hear of a proposal from Kraus Anderson on their recently acqu...

I enjoy riding the designated Cedar Lake Trail detours for the amusement value alone:
“HAIRPIN!!!”
“What the… did I just ride through somebody’s gazebo?”
“Hey, I've never seen the sun come up in the West?”

I wish I could say that building does something for me beyond making me miss Bar X Espresso.

Re: Saint Paul - General Topics
I can't imagine circumstances where the building housing Noodles and Company on the Target block goes away, much less Target itself. Those prime outlots facing University have sat vacant for a looong time. (And you are right, Qhaberl - that Target does very well.) As far as the Midway Marketplace bl...

Bus Destination Signage
I am wondering if anyone here is familiar with transit systems using more sophisticated destination signage on their buses than what is currently used by Metro Transit. One of the major reasons people are hesitant to take buses on an unfamiliar system is the fear that they could end up... somewhere ...

I love the way they show pedestrians casually crossing Snelling at the Hague Ave. intersection. Even crossing with the benefit of a signal at Selby can be an adventure at times!

Re: Arterial Bus Rapid Transit Corridors
It's too bad they can't accelerate the long-term plan (if it is still being considered) for extending Shields Ave. through what's left of Midway Center and across to Hamline Ave. It's close enough for B Line (and Route 21) to Green Line connections but out of University Avenue traffic.

It looks like Exeter Group (developer of C&E Lofts, Custom House and Cobalt) bought the SOS Office Furniture building at 2441 University last June. This will definitely be a property to keep an eye on!

Re: Allianz Field and Snelling-Midway Development
Just a couple of months ago, Pawn America was going through the permit process to reopen their store at University and Fry. Now TOLD Development is proposing construction of a new bank building on this site. Aside from the fact that it is not a pawn shop, this is a disappointing proposal (a 4,700 sf...

A small win for the urbanists? Allianz Field will have a team store open daily, year round, on the northwest corner. https://www.mnufc.com/post/2019/02/07/black-and-blue-team-store-sign-goes I am as gung-ho as anyone about the stadium as well as what it will mean for surrounding development. But a ...

More new news! Underground and first floor parking with commercial space facing Snelling, topped by five floor...

Re: Soccer Stadium and Snelling-Midway Development
The Pioneer Press article gives the most info I've seen yet on the plans for both Big V's and Hot Rods (Midway Saloon and Gibson's) including a rendering! I have long imagined that sort of shared patio for those two businesses, so I'm glad to know I wasn't completely up a tree! https://www.twincitie...

Re: Soccer Stadium and Snelling-Midway Development
I can't find any past posts on "Liffey on Snelling" but it may not matter... The construction trailers that have been collecting graffiti for the past year have vanished and the most recent permit (Architectural Review) is "On Hold". For what it's worth, the website is still acti...

Re: St. Paul Restaurant News
After about seven years as a vacant eyesore, the renovation of the Shilla>Kum Gang San>Korean Garden>Asian Buffet building on Snelling near Minnehaha is coming along nicely. Signage for the new restaurant went up today. No word on any prospective tenant for the southern third of the building, but I ...

Re: Downtown Minneapolis General Topics & Development Map
Bus Stop Brewhouse looks really cool, and is apparently intending to be open for next Sunday's Vikings game. I'll believe it when I see it. Given that this is how the place looked on Tuesday, I expect that won't be happening. But I am really looking forward to the end results! https://i.imgur.com/9...
