Re: Intercity rail to Chicago

It was more a jab at the small town/suburban planners who view rail/freeway links as the second coming. Just look at the Big Lake station and how terribly short it fell of the cities expectations. Or look at the hwy 212/101 interchange in Chanhassen. And to be fair phase two includes rail links to j...

Re: MSP Airport

I realize it's pretty good when we have a new CDG flight in the works on AF metal, and there's a likelihood that we'll see KE to ICN within 2 years. Here's the rest of my wishlist: - Bearskin to Thunder Bay :) - Upgraded mainline AC to Toronto - BA or LH (but I wonder if this would cannibalize Icel...

Re: MSP Airport

I could've sworn that somewhere on airliners.net I read that Korean Air and Delta didn't have joint venture agreements for transpacific flights. Or maybe that's completely wrong. Either way, this would be really exciting. Correct! Not sure what I was thinking. Must have still been thinking about th...

Re: Intercity rail to Chicago

There are routes between cities where air travel makes sense. Connecting our medium-sized city to a metro of under a million across hundreds of miles of sparsely populated prairie is about a good of an example as I can think of where crossing an ocean isn't involved. But of course that new rail lin...

Re: MSP Airport

There's always a ton of rumors on airliners.net and more often than not they turn out to be nothing but rumors. That said the latest rumor regarding MSP is that sometime in the 1st or 2nd quarter of 2014 Minneapolis will be getting a second Asian destination. The consensus so far has been a Korean A...

Oops didn't mean to derail the entire thread. We officially have two rather tall buildings under construction.

Re: Nic on Fifth - (455 Nicollet Mall)

Well it was a computer rendering so nothing really earth shattering. But pretty cool nonetheless. It was interesting to see such a major project being designed and rendered on a free software program. Kinda remarkable. Are you sure it wasn't Sketch Up Pro? The pay version? I was surprised how much ...

Re: Park Point Hotel

Any information on that proposed 9 story hotel on Park Point in Duluth. It was announced a year and a half ago and was supposed to be completed this past summer. Is it stil alive or has it been cancelled? It's been awhile since I had heard anything. Several months ago I had heard it was still looki...

Re: Highway 7 / Louisiana Interchange Project (St. Louis Par

One interchange closer to a turning 7 into a freeway. I hope they do as well of a job as they did on Wooddale, I was worried they'd overdo that one but it ended up great. This will be the most pleasant stretch of 7 to drive!

Despite the site not looking like much of a construction site, half the lot is a big hole now.

Re: United Health Corporate HQ - Eden Prairie

was it in that wooded area? might be leaf burning.....did it smell like bad weed? Well it certainly wasn't any Cali medical leaves. Drove by today and it looked like the back lot was cleared out. Must have been a controlled burn. Anyone have any info on when the work will start on the 10 and 15 sto...

Re: United Health Corporate HQ - Eden Prairie

Drove by today and there was a huge fire burning in the back lot behind the construction of the 2 buildings. Not sure if it was a controlled burn or what but it was certainly causing traffic to back up a bit. I didn't see any fire trucks or emergency vehicles on site. Any one have any info?

Re: 36 Park Apartments - St. Louis Park

I really like the look of this building, although I can't say it looks too much like what the rendering had proposed. Wooddale could turn into a very urban street in the next few years.

Re: Park Vista (2nd Street South & 11th Avenue South)

Awesome news! With this lot filled and the Mill City Quarter project the Mill District wont have but only a few open lots. You'll be able to walk down 2nd street from 3rd to 11th without going past a surface parking lot. So is this the only condo project under construction right now in Minneapolis?

Re: Dock Street Apartments - (333 Washington Avenue North)

The city of Minneapolis says there is no height limitation in the area and says no one has complained. In other news today: the sun was out, and no one seemed to mind. They also missed the mark on the Mill and Main project placing it much to far north on the map, and completely ignored the largest ...

Re: I-35W/I-94 Commons

Again, I don't think you can widen tunnel. evenso, it'd still be a 35 MPH curve I thought I read in the report that widening the tunnel to some extent was possible. It was very expensive and difficult, but it was in fact possible. I think it had something to do with using cantilevered footings to p...
