Re: Labeling the Transit System
How about giving hBRT lines metallic colors and LRT lines primary colors? Rename the Orange line to Silver, and Red to, umm, copper? For colors, how about teal, maroon, purple, yellow to go with blue, green, red and orange I have no issues with the mix of colors and letters - colors could represent ...

So, in a few years I-94 will be 6 lanes from 494/694 to 610, 8 LANES from 610 to 101, http://www.dot.state.mn.us/metro/projects/i94rogers/pdf/faq.pdf then back to six lanes through Albertville, 4 lanes to Monticello, and then back to six again to Clearwater... And they still aren't sure if they're g...

Re: Riverview Corridor Streetcar
They did have streetcar stops inside the (at the time, much larger) fort, but no big stations. Of course, the bridge that carried them was much farther east than the current one; it was almost to the pentagon north central tower. And, the walls and most of the original buildings of the "histori...

Re: Mall of America - Bloomington
Maybe with the coming death of Sears, there would be the opportunity to bulldoze the east ramp and expand the mall in that direction.
Of course, they'll probably say they need $$$ to put 24th below grade...

Re: Furnace / HVAC in older homes
We did have baseboards upstairs (the house was actually from 1900 and had been converted into a up/down duplex in the fifties, so the upstairs was separate until the owner before us re-combined them). Depending on how much the ductwork costs, it's probably worth knocking your electric bill in half i...

Re: Furnace / HVAC in older homes
Not sure on the gravity furnace upgrade part, but just swapping out our 1950's forced air furnace and adding AC ran close to $7500 twelve years ago, and that was with me personally running the ductwork to the second floor and basement ahead of time. I can tell you the electric and gas bills in the w...

Because hospitals used to be built in a utilitarian fashion, and now health insurance companies jokingly play "Can you tell the difference between a hospital and a hotel?" when giving fluffy speeches about why they charge so much. This. So much so. The health care industry seems to not kn...

I'm gonna assume that last really weird stall will be walled off as the maintenance guy's storage area. Spare parks take up a LOT of room, and no F@$% designers ever seem to plan for it. Especially in affordable housing, where there will always be an emphasis on repair over replace. You also will ne...

Not to mention enclosed front porches have a nasty habit of becoming storage dumps.
