Re: Valleyfair - Shakopee
Great, now what will I ride when my friends decide "You know what's a great idea? To get soaked on Thunder Canyon and walk around in wet clothes the rest of the day!"

Re: Des Moines
Oh totally. I was staying near the airport, and apparently since the road leading from the airport to downtown (Fleur) is most people's first impression of the city, they make an attempt to make that section of town look nicer than some of the other areas, such as the poorer and neglected north. Plu...

Re: Des Moines
When I went to Des Moines, my friends in Minneapolis who had never been there asked what it was like. I said "Imagine you take St. Paul, add in some of the things that are fun about Minneapolis, and stick it in the middle of nowhere."

Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)
I think that the other 5 commissioners would recognize that 10% of a $200-500 million project is a lot easier to swallow than 10% of a $2 billion dollar project, regardless if it went from Minneapolis to Uptown or Minneapolis to Albert Lea. And if the route didn't need to be dictated by federal guid...

Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)
They would have to go to the Hopkins, Minnetonka, EP and every other council and say, "That LRT line you thought you'd get in 2021? It's probably not opening in your neck of the woods until maybe 2025, if ever. If SWLRT was switched to a piecemeal project, as far as I'm aware, they wouldn't ne...

Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)
What if the line was built in short phases, 2-3 stations at a time? Build the expensive tunnel to Uptown, wait a few years, then build out further and further with dedicated transit funds. You don't need a federal transit program's assistance if you're not spending billions in one go.

Maybe the new owner might be receptive to these new ideas? I can't imagine a company buying properties around the country sets out to own the ugliest buildings they can find.

Re: 2015 Transportation Funding Proposals
Because of my career, I won't be able to stay in Minneapolis long term regardless. But if the Republicans get their way, I definitely won't be letting state pride hold me back and will be pushing to get to New York within 2-3 years as opposed to just 'within a decade.' This plan is a disaster for th...

Bought by a Los Angeles investment group? I can see why City Center caught their attention, it reminds them of LA.

Re: Excelsior General Development
Scott Richards is my new suburban hero.
“The interesting thing is parking is never free,” Richards said. “People think free parking is their God-given suburban right but that’s not necessarily the case. Someone has to provide that land, pave it and maintain it.”

Seconded on the somewhat-enclosed spaces. The Green Line can be so bitterly cold and some of the heaters are already not working.

The guy who owns Corner Coffee also owns The Beat in Uptown, so I wouldn't definitively say anything Minneapolis is really out of their influence.

Re: Mall of America - Bloomington
Considering American Dream in New Jersey had to be bailed out (and still hasn't even opened) it's probably a terrible idea for anyone to be considering building a brand new mall in the US, let alone one bigger than MoA.

Yes, because everyone knows that the Minneapolis economy completely revolves around Target.
Though by headquarters, do they mean just downtown or from the massive hulk by 610 as well?

They were probably hinging on the idea that billionaires would visit Dubai and become so entranced by everything that they move a major corporation's headquarters there so they can work and play in the city forever. And billionaires owning private jets never occurred to anyone.

Re: Video Games
The industry side of it is completely useless and broken without mods, as you pretty much cannot run a profitable freight line in the vanilla game. The industries definitely feel like they were an afterthought to the developers. It's also not very apparently how they work in the first place, I had ...

Re: Video Games
I think the depth will come as both the developers continue to iron out the bugs and the modding community takes off. Though from what I gather, some of the issues run deeper in the code than can be fixed with just a mod, and hopefully the developers take the criticism they receive and put it toward...

Has anyone here tried Train-Fever? I picked it up when it was 60% off on Steam. It's got some issues to work out, but if your computer can handle it, it's a nice modern successor to Transport Tycoon.

Maybe soon they'll even replace the ads on the bus/train itself. I can't wait for the Denham's Dentifrice sing-along.Digital Advertising Coming: http://finance-commerce.com/transit/201 ... it-system/
