Re: Suburban Malls and Associated Retail News
Dang, that plan looks awesome, but unfortunately not all of it will probably be implemented. I know that the last EP Quality of Life survey (from 2020, I think) had many comments relating to the lack of a walkable downtown, so there is a bit of public support for such a thing, but what would be req...

Seriously LOL - we go to that AMC all the time since it has the only Dolby Cinema in the West Metro. If they're trying to inch up market a bit, hopefully someone will think to buy a vacuum for the movie theater.

Re: Southdale Area - Edina
The rumor that I am hearing is that the Southdale Macy's stays as is and the Ridgedale Macy's is converted to a Bloomingdales to better compete with the Nordstrom at that mall. Lifetime and Equinox (would be the 1st location in Minnesota) also have their eyes on the JC Penny's space at Ridgedale.

Re: Suburban Malls and Associated Retail News
Macy's closing 150 stores. I'd imagine Burnsville, Southdale, and Maplewood would be the most at risk of closing. https://amp.cnn.com/cnn/2024/02/27/investing/macys-closing-150-stores/index.html Burnsville yes, Maplewood yes, but I don’t think Southdale will close especially with the large number o...

Re: Green Line Extension - Southwest LRT
I will say though, I get the need to keep people away from an active construction site but many of the trail closures look like they could easily be reopened if there was an actual desire to do so. Also there is a sidewalk jog at blake road that biking on I almost ate it in the ballast because i wa...

Re: Valleyfair - Shakopee
I was recently at Carowinds which is sister Cedar Fair park, but WAY larger. I don't think Valleyfair is going to get a 325ft giga coaster anytime soon. I was surprised to see their kiddo area named Camp Snoopy and felt very much like what the MOA had so I think Valleyfair can switch the name, and m...

Re: Southdale Area Development - Edina
For some reason, it really feels like there's more to the move than Herberger's leaving. It's a store my grandparents shop at when they have a coupon, so I scratch my head and wonder the same thing sdho does - how could a library possibly draw fewer patrons than that? Maybe they are closing because...

Re: Suburban Transit (Opt-out Services Providers
How does SWLRT work, then? Is it specifically exempt? I know the Red Line is operated by MVTA for that reason. Same question about the Orange Line. That's going to be MT-operated, right? SWLRT will be Metro Transit operated. SWT will have a lot of connecting buses in and out of Southwest Station. T...

Presentation for the Opus project, interesting that some options include mid-rise (15 story) buildings.

Re: West End / Central Park West Development - St. Louis Park
And struggles getting the proposed offices built. A lot of apartments are coming on very soon. I wonder if we see West End morph more towards a neighborhood retail for the new residences. My understanding from reading through past proposals in the West End development is that the Saint Louis Park p...

Trees are starting to come down at Southwest Station. They also have the old Culver’s roped off so I would assume that comes down within the next week or so.

Re: Suburban Malls and Associated Retail News
Rosedale is already the healthiest mall in the area, isn't it? According to this article, Northtown has the lowest vacancy of all malls. But if you only include major malls I would put Ridgedale ahead of Rosedale. With the arrival of Nordstrom it has morphed into a mini version of the Galleria with...

Looks like they are going to get the first Alamo Drafthouse Cinema in the Twin Cities. Hopefully that means more locations will be coming soon.
