Re: Minneapolis Skyway System
Per a library worker at Central, as of this morning, the Minneapolis Central Library is officially connected to the downtown Minneapolis skyway system. The segments that connect MC cross Nicollet to connect with the 365 Nicollet building, as well as 3rd St, connecting to the RBC Gateway building. Th...

Re: Northeast and Southeast Minneapolis - General Topics
Couple of new proposals for Northeast coming to next week's CoW. At Lowry and 2nd, across the street from the approved-but-never-started Red Cow Brewery, Perkins Levin is proposing a six-story, 190-unit apartment building, with walkout units on the 2nd St side, and a coworking space and fitness cen...

Re: Minneapolis 2021 Elections - Mayor, City Council, BET, Park Board
Overall a disappointing night in general. The big question now is, with the dust settled, whether Frey and the new council can get something done with policing. Reading left-wing Minneapolis Twitter last night there was a lot of sentiment like mplsjaromir's above. And I get it, to some extent. But ...

Re: Minneapolis 2021 Elections - Mayor, City Council, BET, Park Board
I think you are prolly right that Frey drew more open dislike due to his persona versus his political positions pre-2020 but I feel like he revealed himself to be much worse than Melvin Carter in the aftermath of the unrest. If a mayor who has complete control of the police doesn't stop police bruta...

Re: Southdale Area - Edina
The library director recaped in this month's library board meeting that the library was no longer pursuing lease options for the Southdale mall. That is about 22 minutes in. https://hclib.org/about/library-board

Re: Southdale Area - Edina
The library in the Southdale mall is not going to happen, at least not what was proposed. That was communicated to the library board a month or two ago - but never widely publicized outside of the library. Most likely going to rebuild on the current site (but that's really depend on the county's nex...

Re: Southdale Area Development - Edina
Because the potential library building would be connected to the mall, I have reservations about architecture and even bigger reservations about the "bike and pedestrian access" slice of things but hey, hope springs eternal. Maybe if enough people talk about those concerns at the Open Hous...
