Re: Saint Paul - General Topics
2 pretty big low-income/affordable housing development proposals for the East Side for vacant lots: https://www.twincities.com/2024/05/13/st-paul-face-to-face-project-for-pride-in-living-plan-affordable-housing-on-arcade-east-seventh-streets/ 892 E 7th street (vacant triangular lot) - 60 units / 5 s...

Re: Interstate 94
What does total removal look like? Does that mean no road there at all? Not even a city street? If the area is going to be redeveloped at all, I'd imagine to some degree some infrastructure would need to be built. Remember that 94 today through St. Paul is only one block wide. Really, you wouldn't ...

Re: Nicollet Ave / Eat Street - Whittier, Stevens, Loring Park
I haven't been in there since the remodeling wrapped, but the building footprint didn't change, so the dining room is still there, right? They're just not using it? (Which they have been doing since Covid hit, I'm pretty certain.) No, when you walk into the lobby there are two ordering kiosks, a mo...

Re: Gold Line BRT - Downtown St. Paul to Woodbury
If they had eminent domained her off the property, she would've gone crying to the Pioneer Press complaining about that too. Really though, they are doing her a favor. Once the Gold Line is completed, she'll be able to sell her lot for far more than 200k. There will be TOD to support this station (...

Re: Allianz Field and Snelling-Midway Development
Well, looks like the multi-way boulevard drop-off was approved. I am just curious: why couldn't the hotel just have worked with the city to expand University Ave in that location to be an extra lane wider so that it could have accommodated an on-street parking/drop-off lane? It seems like that would...

Tuesday Morning will be closing at the Har Mar location and Excelsior location. Pretty big blow for a place like Har Mar that already has a lot of vacancies. https://bringmethenews.com/minnesota-lifestyle/tuesday-morning-to-shutter-minnesota-stores-after-filing-bankruptcy Some more Har Mar recent l...

Re: Purple Line BRT (Rush Line Corridor)
Is it true that regular buses can't use the BRT bus stops? I regularly get off the bus by Pappy's at WBA and Maryland, and that would be problematic. Also, do cars really stay out of the side-running lanes? The way I've seen cars barrel down the shared turn lane on Maryland makes me think people wo...

Where in Robbinsdale is there an Aldi?
They have good security and added gates to the entrances to the Robbinsdale Aldi.

Technically Falcon Heights but definitely falls under Roseville Area: https://www.twincities.com/2024/02/18/falcon-heights-apartments-approved-near-fairgrounds/ Looks like a 96-unit apartment building is being built next to the Fairgrounds at Larpenteur and Snelling after recent city council approva...

Re: Suburban Malls and Associated Retail News
Wal-Mart also closed the University Ave store not terribly long ago. I wonder how the Robbinsdale Hyvee is doing? Maybe that will be the next store to close. Their prices are higher than the nearby Cub. I have it on good authority that Robbinsdale Hy-Vee is ailing, in part due to theft. There has b...

Re: Riverview Corridor Streetcar
$2 Billion is a lot of money even in the future... 2033, and the projected ridership is pretty low relative to the cost. And, to be honest I'm not a huge fan of either the Green or Blue Line extension routes past Hopkins and Robbinsdale. The original B Line ABRT route would be up and running right ...
