Re: Van White Memorial Bridge
I'm hoping with the SWLRT line station, that is supposed to be at the bridge, that the city, county, and state can design the station and bridge into one cohesive beautiful structure.

Re: Minneapolis & St. Paul Fantasies and Speculations
We talk like Lake Street is a city road!! That is a county road and they will not be as welcoming to having pedestrians next to a MAJOR trunk road. IF you don't think it gets alot of traffic, try going down it at either rush hour and see how far traffic is backed up. Pie in the sky idea that will no...

Re: Block E
This was a case of horrible urban design, the developer deserved to lose his shirt on this one. Ugly exterior, lousy pedestrian flow once inside the building. Only a total gut job will make it work again. There needs to be an honest street enterance from 1st Ave into the rest of Block E, and a way t...

Re: Nicollet Residences
I really don't think the building would want to have people hangin out in it's lobby on a cold day or in the AC. There are enough percieved problems with the bus stops as it is.

They will be moving Landau to below grade for part of the Phase 2, which I think the road work starts this summer, with utilities relocation. Then you will be able to walk across that busy street with less fear.

Hopefully the awnings are still a go and they will help distract from the brick. Another, have to see the completed project before I pass my final judgement. But again, who need to be fired for the lousy choice of brick. Would have been better to have gone with a cream brick than the poor match that...

Re: Mozaic
I think they will have to go back to the drawing boards for that. I doubt that they will be able to get anywhere over 4 stories along the Greenway. At least in areas where it will create shadows in the winter. I'd like to see a 4 level Hotel on the north area next to the Greenway. With the south are...

Re: Velo apartments
The Merit printing building will be torn down for this development and it's located at 117 North 2nd Street. But the address of the new project with probably be different.
I'd bet on a 1st Ave address as that looks like where most of the action will be taking place.

Glad they are finally doing something to what had been a major eyesore on the Mall. Now if they would only do something about City Centers lower 4 floors I'd be very happy.

Re: Velo apartments
This is a sharp looking design. Does anyone know if this is likely to be stick construction? The first two floors will have to be brick/concrete, but the top 4 could be stick, correct? The way it's usually done is the first floor is concrete, the rest is wood framed. From the render it looks like t...

Mosaic could have been better, but it sure beat some of the other POS ramps with no character at all. Will see what happens when the Green wall get grown up and the plaza is finished and the second phase is complete. I'm happy to see that area will finally get something substantial built on there. W...

This is good news. I had heard of a tunnel, but I thought is was only to go under University and heard nothing of one to the station. Will we be lucky and get moving sidewalks in them too!! I'll be in St. Paul on Thursday so I'm looking forward to walking the line from the Capital to the Union Stati...

We need a new mentality in this country. We need to get away from the past 4 years and actually work to get things done. The business community is behind this 100% Can't see how we can't get this done!

Well this Minnesotan has made it thru many winters. This past one I log more walking miles thru the winter than all the winters before. You just need not be a wimp about it and YES a positive attitude helps.

People are moving back into the urban area. Any politican that does not support transist will be voted out very fast. The writing is on the wall for getting the most bang for the buck with the number of people they can transport. One has to look at the future and not just what is happening today. We...

I'd agree with a green roof that is for sure. I could see adding 2 floors to the east half, but they would have to be c shaped to work around the windows on those levels of the Graves. IF they did that they might be able to do a secluded park. Kinda like they did at the Northstar center for the Hote...

They really need to do a major facade reconstruction of the lower 4 stories. Make it street and predestrian friendly again.
