Re: The Virginia Triangle (Hennepin & Lyndale Bottleneck)
Nevertheless, it's inconvenient, either in reality or in perception, to get from Uptown to Downtown as a pedestrian or a cyclist. It could be worse but this corridor could be much, much better.

Re: The Virginia Triangle (Hennepin & Lyndale Bottleneck)
Something that hasn't been directly addressed is the ridiculous task it is to cross basically anywhere in the whole Triangle area, on foot or on bike. The speed limit on this road ... 30 I think? ... but cars go basically as fast as possible when there's no one is front of them and crossing 8+ wide ...

Re: Elan of Uptown - (2837 Dupont Avenue South)
Great news about the demolition! The center building of this project is by far the best. Can't wait to see that grand stair down to the Greenway. I couldn't agree more! The middle parcel should be a great place to be! They better not mess up that walkout. That could be a real boon to the area and t...

Re: New bicycle RFID polls popping up
I don't know much about details, but I know that some Downtown Target employees who bike are being encouraged to mount these Zap RFID modules on their bikes. Less for gift cards I think and more for just volunteering cyclist information to whomever. I think it's a great idea and should give policyma...

Re: Loring Park Apartments - (1368 LaSalle Avenue)
Very nice StarTrib write-up. But there's one detail I'm not seeing in any publication: what is the targeted or estimated time frame for renting to start on this project? Are we talking 12 mo.+?

Re: Loring Park Apartments - (1368 LaSalle Avenue)
Didn't have a camera handy, but just walked by the site and there is structure rising above ground! Exciting! Looks like the reinforced concrete pylons are going up quickly now, with some rebar still sticking up out of the ground. Looks to me like the main structural and load bearing portions for th...

Re: Loring Park Apartments - (1368 LaSalle Avenue)
I guess that's actually a good thing, discouraging people from having and using cars downtown. I'm surprised there aren't parking requirements, but if true, that's great for the city. Although it does highlight my single biggest worry about this project: access to mass transit. Can anyone speak to t...

Re: Loring Park Apartments - (1368 LaSalle Avenue)
And pardon my ignorance once more; would units generally have one parking space, with extras available at extra cost? On a separate note, does anyone have a guess as to when occupancy might start? A year from now?

Re: Loring Park Apartments - (1368 LaSalle Avenue)
Perhaps a tad premature, but does anyone have a rough estimate what rents may eventually run for this building? I presume there's a large range, but I'd be curious if anyone has an educated guess for various setups. I'm especially curious about a 1-br unit facing downtown. Will rates be higher depen...

Re: Midtown Corridor
What is the popular consensus on which of the two routes is a better idea? I imagine the Greenway route would be cheaper but going down Lake would have to do more in terms of economic stimulation for the area.

Re: Burch Pharmacy Building - (1934 Hennepin Avenue)
I walked by recently and there was some kind of glass that was put up, but I'm not 100% sure it was the final plate glass windows.

Re: Elan of Uptown - (2837 Dupont Avenue South)
Some different angles. Does anyone know if the elaborate terraced walk-out has been canceled? Or maybe that was for one of the other Elan phases?

Re: Burch Pharmacy Building - (1934 Hennepin Avenue)
I walked by today and snapped a couple pictures. Looks like the middle and upper floor windows are in, but the main floor plate glass windows aren't installed yet. I can't wait to see the final look. Does anyone know what will become of the former billboard box on the side of the building? It looks ...
