Re: Vikings Stadium
Wow! I actually think that is an amazing idea. Having skating tournaments with the skyline in back, real urban setting. It would give a lot of the youth a place to gather and be, depending on your view of the sport, productive. Skate parks are definitely something that the Suburbs do out-perform the...

Re: 600 5th Street North
Good luck to the Fulton people should they every want to build something higher density on their block -- sorry, your neighbor built a building with residential windows right up to two of your property lines, so you're hosed. I get what you're saying but in the grand scheme of things, in terms of d...

Midway Corner
Anyone know which site they might be talking about based on the details? or find out anything more? Midway Corner, St. Paul--$210,400 to help with asbestos and lead-based paint abatement on a 0.7-acre commercial site that formerly included an automotive showroom and auto repair business. Expected de...

Re: 600 5th Street North
Ok, I get it, you all have tiny attention spans and want something REALLY COOL!!! Why wouldn't the buildings of a certain time period look similar to others. Almost every building in our historic neighborhoods look exactly the same with slightly different brickwork or stone accents. Most people agre...

Re: Minneapolis & St. Paul Fantasies and Speculations
I do like the idea of connecting Oak Grove to 17th. Although I think the Nicollet Bridge is going to get repaved very soon maybe next year? I don't think there is any demand to create a "land bridge" for retail given the entire area as it stands is pretty much vacant. The theory of land b...

Re: Westminister Church Parking Lot
I really hope this isn't more surface parking, I like that intersection actually, it could be such a great place for something really cool. Remember when Churches Contributed some of the best architecture to cities?

Re: Minneapolis & St. Paul Fantasies and Speculations
My understanding is that they won some federal money to do it, and it's kind of funny because I think they won it away from PDX... which actually would have benefited and utilized it greatly. But maybe Dallas needs it to spur an urban lifestyle.

Re: Walker Library
I like the current one, I think it's outgrown itself, but I love the Brutalist architecture and subterranean nature. I also love Peavey Plaza, it's really sad to see two of our towns best examples of that era of architecture going to the wayside. In another 40 years we'll probably feel like we're mi...

Re: Minneapolis & St. Paul Fantasies and Speculations
I think the point of actually creating the cap here is to create a seamless connection between DT, Loring, and Stevens. The connection of the East and West Streets and the parks make it a viable neighborhood and investment.

Re: 600 5th Street North
I think it will be a great infill project as well... The facade will make or break it for sure. The sooner we get more people living in Minneapolis and sustaining ourselves the more feasible larger projects will become. But I think there is a whole thread just for you and your complaints Nasa, keep ...
