Re: 222

Yuck! The original design for 222 (eclipse?) was so retro 80's, it looked like it belonged on i494 in Bloomington lol and you think THIS is suburban!? All that eclipse needed was a band of neon at the top to finish it off.

Looks pretty great to me! Yay! Interesting area, not usually much going on in such a 'complete' neighborhood.

DT a Great Urban Neighborhood. Highrise vs. Midrise.

I see a lot of the argument about taller Taller TALLER on all of these message boards. I found this really great graphic of the heights of buildings in Manhattan. Yes of course they have TALL buildings, but most of their best urban neighborhoods are under 100 feet. I will never complain about a beau...

Re: 222

I think it's a great addition to the Northloop/warehouse district. If it's finished well it'll be a great building that straddles DT and the more residential historic areas. There are plenty of places for towers to come. Right now lets create desirable sustainable realistic neighborhoods. I'm quite ...

Re: Xcel Energy HQ

We definitely need another thread. The skyways have kept our downtown core compact. And from not becoming a central avenue in PHX or sprawling like ATL... The reason so many of those close at night is because NO ONE lives there. 30k in all of downtown. that's less than 1% of the metro area. if you t...

Re: Xcel Energy HQ

There is no denying that in Minneapolis we have some less than desirable weather, and someone being able to traverse downtown to get that restaurant inside is far better than them just forgoing it and driving back to the suburbs to eat at Ruby Tuesdays when they get home instead.

Re: Trader Joes (Lyndale and 27th)

If the residents of Uptown want to shop there, it would be awesome if they walked or biked. The beauty of the parking lot is that the people from the suburbs can park there, and spend their money in Uptown instead of St. Louis Park or Bloomington. This seems like a pretty big missed opportunity. Th...

Re: Nicollet Residences

I'm gonna go with Opus is probably doing its best to make the most amount of money that they can on this project. And more floors would be more money. They are also one of the only divisions of Opus that didn't go under through the recession, so I think they are probably pretty good with finances. L...

Re: Xcel Energy HQ

The sky way is what has done a really good job of keeping our skyline compact and beautiful though, you can argue a lack of street life, but it's one of the major reasons our downtown doesn't sprawl across random parts of the city.

Phew, for a while I thought I was going to have to do my own sort of vigilante excavation of this site! Exciting news! Let the streets flood with tears of joy. I can only imagine the numerous possibilities and ways they could develop this site, while reconnecting neighborhoods. Seriously awesome.

Re: Prospect Park Station - 2901 4th St. SE

I see awesome potential for that area, and this building seems to have some could be cool features, but it would totally be an island for a while :/ There are a lot of weird surface lots and commercial buildings in that area, total mish mash

This is totally great news! Also probably makes a good extension of the skyway and possibility of getting the library connected!? One surface lot away!!! Ha!

Saw this small rendering of this one on the Finance and Comm website http://finance-commerce.com/files/2012/06/ProspectParkDrawing.jpg The Cornerstone Group, which hopes to build a 250-unit, mixed-income housing development at 2901 Fourth St. S.E., Minneapolis, received a $1 million loan from the He...

Re: Trader Joes (Lyndale and 27th)

I live just two blocks from the site, and the idea of a trader Joe's there makes me want to die. All we need is another traffic jam on Lyndale, one for the Wedge and one for TJ's... How about instead we tear down Kmart, re-open Nicollet and put the TJs in a mixed use on the east and the Kameapart on...

Re: Van White Memorial Bridge

Technically isn't there a plan for that whole area, including the storage area, and impound lots? It would be such an amazing location, close to DT and the Lakes. I think a while back Ryan Cos won a bid to develop it... Had a number of mixed use towers blah blah... 20 year plan... Do it now? Please?

Re: Southwest LRT

I don't know who else saw this article, but it totally makes cents. People hate the idea of investing in rail because it 'costs' SO much, but what they don't realize is how much we actually spend on our roads, because it just seems second nature. This is a good read I think. http://www.minnpost.com/...
