Re: Southdale Area Development - Edina
This is amazing. I'm blown away by how quickly this area is transforming. It almost feels like a downtown area now.

Re: Interstate 494
Yup, Lyndale gets tons of traffic whenever 35W is out. I for one would LOVE to have real time pricing everywhere, and I am willing to bet most people would be in favor of it. I read an article some time ago that showed across all levels wealth and income, people simply do not have time to sit and wa...

Re: Minnetonka Area – General Topics
I don't understand the appeal of suburban condos/townhomes. The idea seems to me to trade less space for greater amenities within walking/taxiing distance when purchasing a condo vs. a standalone house. But in the suburbs you just end up with less space.

Good point, mattaudio. I would like to see the things you suggested implemented.
66th and Penn is a good example of a bad place. It just doesn't work. Compare with 50th and Penn.

Stone countertops are a big differentiator for a lot of people, it sounds kinda silly but it kinda makes sense. Apartments inside really aren't that different from one another and a stone countertop can be a huge differentiator for a lot of people.

Re: Embarrassing Confessions of Urbanists
I like that Lake Elmo is rural and think there are so many closer in suburbs that should become better urbanized and don't think Lake Elmo needs to at all. I think we need better rural AND urban spaces, and the problem is just the default mode of suburbanization means those seeking good urban or goo...

Re: 77th/76th Corridor - Richfield / Edina
Personal anecdote: I felt most safe bicycling in Minneapolis, and slightly less in Richfield. But in Bloomington, it is the worst. I often have seen motorists visibly FREAK OUT and have NO IDEA what to do with a cyclist around. I am talking full panic stricken looks on their faces. I have seen drive...

"If you don't like it move to Blaine." Love this. Is Ham Lake that bad really? Seems like nice ideals..self sustenance, low property taxes, large lots, you can build a garage bigger than your house. I mean makes sense if you have a lot of boats, RVs, etc, and want to live that lifestyle......

I think I saw a hot dog shop open up at 53rd and Lyndale, next to the Subway/Prima.
