Amazon's New HQ?
https://www.bizjournals.com/twincities/news/2017/09/07/amazon-solicits-bids-from-north-american-cities.html Does anybody think MN has ANY chance whatsoever of landing Amazon's 2nd US HQ -- purportedly proposed to house up to 50,000 employees and invest $5B? I think no -- hell no -- but that'd be a h...

Re: Bicycle Infrastructure
My $0.02 (that nobody asked for).....cyclists are probably even a bit more aggressive and are bigger risk takers by their nature (in general), given that they fearlessly ride in the middle of moving traffic in all kinds of elements. Cyclists also very likely have a much higher sense of their surroun...

Re: Edina Crossroads Project - 7200, 7201, 7250 France
I thought there was an article in the business journal like 2 days after this was announced saying that it was a no go? The DUAL tower was a no-go, and the project was scrapped, and they came back up with this one-tower approach. However, I think I saw as recently as yesterday that the pedestrian/b...

Re: Southdale Area Development - Edina
Why would they agree to such a restriction for their tenants (who have one foot out the door) anyways?
If anything, tasty burgers, fries and milkshakes is a BIGGER distraction to potential shoppers like me who may be rolling up to Southdale, only to be lured by the promise of a food orgasm!

Re: City of Minneapolis Offices Consolidation
So, the plan to move the fire station into this building as well was scrapped? Too bad, it seems like the existing fire station is an impediment to redevelopment of that block of Washington. Also, lol at a block-long 10-story building being referred to as a tower. They call anything over 6 floors a...

Re: Sons of Norway block redevelopment - 1455 Lake St W
I know I'll be the least popular person on this forum by saying this, but I am starting to think that the character of Lake Street isn't really defined by it's mid/high-rises, but rather its 1-2 story retail spaces that make up the majority of the corridor. There are some mid/high-rises along Lake t...

Followed by the Supreme Court of the Milky Way galaxy. I'll believe this is over (and the development a "go") when shovels are in the ground. So, now they appeal to the US Supreme Court, right?

Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)
Wish we could chop up this work a little differently... Blue Line to Penn or Robbinsdale alongside Green Line to West Lake or Hopkins. Open both extensions in phases = more urban service sooner. Phases always scare me, because it seems to give the project a chance to be nixed from that point (e.g. ...

As long as they build it give or take a few months, I don't care. I'd rather it be right than rushed.

Re: Grandview District Redevelopment - Edina
I’d like to see some of the math on that $2N to $100M per year. Yeah....$100M per year added revenue would be a game changer for the city. I find that figure very hard to believe. Just some fuzzy math off the top of my head: $100M per year would have to equate to at least 10% taxes on properties wo...

Re: Planned Parenthood - New Uptown Clinic (1210 Lagoon Ave)
I'd think with an entity like this where it's such a magnet for people across the state/region that its location wouldn't have to be at a major street intersection with excellent frontage, but rather maybe just off the beaten path and even sort of hidden (to keep a lower profile). If people need the...

That's good it's not going to be spec. I'd feel very iffy right now about any spec office proposal.
