Re: HERC - Hennepin Energy Recovery Center
Which I also haven't heard much about--there are non-garbage ways to produce steam (there are other steam plants downtown) but presumably the electricity for that comes from somewhere?

Re: Blue Line Extension - Bottineau LRT
At this point, I have a medium-length list of places in my head where there was a redevelopment and we missed an opportunity to reconnect the grid. We blew a lot of money on watercolors for unnecessary small area plans in random parts of the city from ~1990 to ~2015, while there were a lot of areas ...

Re: Denver
You generally have to do the companion certificate pretty far in advance. They've gotten real stingy with it. Had to layover in Atlanta like an animal on the way back from North Carolina on Sunday.

I wonder why Starbucks would close the store on the Commons and reopen over here so quickly?

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Office Market
Can't blame them for not foreseeing the pandemic, but the county spending fifty million on the Thrivent building (and taking a half block of downtown off the tax rolls) at the same time the city was building a new office building across the street was a real missed opportunity.

Re: Blue Line Extension - Bottineau LRT
I'm starting to hope this whole Blue Line extension project collapses based on the new, proposed route. The route past Robinsdale down the middle of a 6-lane stroad is awful, and now the North Minneapolis routing is looking pretty bad. I fear the route along 10th and 21st Avenues will make access f...

There's a big decal-type sign for this up on the existing building at the corner of Washington and 3rd Avenue, but they didn't splurge for fancier renderings than what we've already seen. Hope this one ends up working out!

Maybe they could partner with First Avenue to build a community performing arts space? We don't have one of those on the river up there.

It was too bad that this never panned out. I thought it was a pretty good proposal and would have maybe gotten a bit more going on this side of downtown.

I always remember a MinnPost article from ages ago citing a study saying that 99% of Northsiders “have or know someone who has asthma” as an example of the hard-hitting, data-driven thinking around HERC.
