Re: 200 Central - Alatus Tower (Washburn-McReavy Site) 483' / 40 Stories
So awesome to see a developer so committed to a project! I give them a lot of credit for sticking this one out!

Re: Grocery Stores
Considering Hy-Vee has yet to start construction on the store in Columbia Heights after it was announced over 2 years ago, I'd find it hard to believe they'd want to scoop up the Cubs. I think their current expansion grew faster than anticipated and they're finding it hard to keep up. I just don't t...

Re: Downtown Hotel News
Other than training camp, when would this be appealing? I suppose they could have rooms that are geared toward traveling media and they could house players that come in for visits, but I'd assume most people using it would have business at the facility.

Re: Minneapolis 2040 Comprehensive Plan
I'm neither a fear monger, nor am I hysterical, but I do have reservations about allowing buildings of this size anywhere in the city. To be clear, I'm not in favor of tearing down and building mcmansions either. I live in a neighborhood with several rental homes, apartments, many single family home...

Re: Downtown Minneapolis General Topics & Development Map
With most of the properties along Washington being gobbled up for development, how soon do we start the countdown for the lot next to Sawatdee? What size development would you like to see on that plot? Personally, I'd like to see something in the 30-35 story range. You'd have some pretty nice views ...

Re: 800 Washington Ave S (Guthrie Ramp liner parcel)
The city got 4 bids for this parcel. Sherman, AECOM, 45 North Group, and Oppidan. I wasn't able to pull up the whole article from F & C, but hopefully the city will present the bids soon.

Re: Art and Architecture Building Redevelopment - 3338 University Ave SE - 14 Stories / ~155'
Then onto the courts: Minneapolis v. PEVOWH (Preserve Every View of the Witch's Hat) A bunch of houses in Prospect Park have signs stating, "We already have a tower". Super creative! Now they'll have two, they should be overjoyed! This is a very nice project that cleans up some properties...

Re: Stadium Village
It's interesting how Downtown Minneapolis is strongly linked to many of these though either geography (NE) LRT (Midway and Stadium Village and South Loop) or interstate with 394 (West End). Is Pentagon park going to be part of SWLRT? Personally, I like Downtown St Paul to get some of this construct...

Interesting, that makes 3 new BBQ joints in NE in a very short period. The owners of Eli's are turning the old Legends Bar into a BBQ restaurant as well.

They may go minimalist and raze everything and replace it with a flower pot.

Not necessarily, but over the long term they have a history of letting things go without repair and regular upkeep. I'm just glad that they outsourced restaurants at their food buildings because they had a bad track record with that as well.

Re: The Commons - Downtown East Park
One problem they have is that they keep gaining properties to manage through gifts, endowments and other means, yet the people leaving this land don't leave any operating budget so they are constantly running at a deficit and it continues to snowball. They're in charge of a property across the stree...

There have to be several large leases up for grabs in the next couple of years. If you can land just one of them it can make sense to get a project going regardless of vacancies.

Did we have record of the Ramada along 35W and Industrial becoming a "Delta Hotels | Marriott" hotel? Yikes how many marquees does one company need? http://www.minneapolismn.gov/www/groups/public/@cped/documents/webcontent/wcmsp-210589.pdf The blue towers (actual paint job, not the concep...

Re: Northeast (and Southeast) - General Topics
http://www.bizjournals.com/twincities/news/2016/03/17/costco-northeast-minneapolis-store.html Apparently CostCo bought a warehouse at 3311 Broadway St. NE on Sept 1st. Say it could fit a CostCo store, which would honestly be great if they could re-use an older industrial building instead of buildin...
