Re: OX-OP Gallery and Residences.
I think the only thing left on this is resurfacing the street on the west side of the building. This one turned out much better than I had anticipated.

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Office Market
I've seen both ends of the spectrum already playing out. Some companies are already saying they'll shrink their space when leases renew, but I've also seen some companies expanding and taking more space already. It'll be interesting to see this play out. I can't work from home so it was never an opt...

We already had one manufacturer in the area say that they will not rebuild in Minneapolis. They're taking their 50 jobs and looking to rebuild in the suburbs.

Re: George Floyd murder and aftermath
I know a lot of people here like mayor Frey, and until this happened I could have been considered in that category. I still like him as a person, he's very approachable; however, I think he looked very vulnerable in this. What the city needed was leadership and clear direction and he was clearly flu...

It was good to hear that both Aldi and Target plan on reopening, Aldi much sooner than Target.

Looks like it's a 5 story apartment building called 1st Ave. Flats.

Re: Southdale Area Development - Edina
It sounds like the US Bank site may be delayed a bit. It appears some of the "parts" have shuffled a little bit and they may need to go back to the city again. Part of the delay revolves around the affordable housing portion. Hopefully it's just a little blip?

Re: MPS Comprehensive District Design
I have an elementary school one block from my house; Pillsbury. My neighborhood is predominantly white/caucasian. Right now a large number of the kids come from north Minneapolis to go to that school. With the lines redrawn, there will be very few children of color in that school or at Waite Park, t...

Re: MPS Comprehensive District Design
This isn't integration though. We already struggle with diversity in the schools; with this plan we'll have even less. Schools that under-perform get less funding and have higher teacher turnover. With this you're more likely to force kids in areas that are already struggling economically, to go to ...

Re: Broadway Station Redevelopment - 2025 West River Rd
You have residences north of Broadway, you will have the development at Broadway Station, and you have the new Opus Condo's at Plymouth; you would think a small restaurant could make it along the parkway between Broadway and Plymouth. Prye's is usually busy in the evening, I could see some crossover...

Re: Fridley - Columbia Heights - Spring Lake Park
To be honest, I'd rather see them tear down and rebuild anyway. With the age of the building I have to believe it would cost just as much to make the building efficient as it would to start from scratch. I could see putting up some multifamily housing on-site along with a new grocery store.

Re: Fridley - Columbia Heights - Spring Lake Park
There is a significant grade difference between Central and that parking lot, but that's just one of many reasons why they would never front Central with the store. No grocery store will want a front and back entrance to their space; it creates a security nightmare. This means that you would just ha...

In the image I like how they put a red stamp over what looked like place holder images of buildings on the site you're talking about.Interesting. I can’t remember, did the U have any involvement in that United proposal from a few years back? Really liked that one.

Re: Role of Visitors and Spaces for them in Cities
I think that the benefit of having larger events and even conventions to a certain degree help introduce the city to people that may not have a knowledge of the area or even a desire to have come here otherwise. Not everyone has a desire to fly 4 hours to see a blue rooster or the Stone Arch Bridge....

Re: Downtown Minneapolis General Topics & Development Map
The preliminary site plans basically showed a parking structure going in between the buildings with the current buildings just being made into housing with some retail added. I was really disappointed because this would be a prime spot for some mixed use with some office space. Even if it was just a...
