Re: Minnesota Vikings Headquarters - Eagan
Except for maybe 3-5 acres for the stadium/practice field, what is necessarily low-density about the land use?
Re: Minnesota Vikings Headquarters - Eagan
Are you just being contrarian? The practice facility is almost all playing fields and parking lots, with just a smidge of office space.
The ancillary development that they're showing really has nothing to do with the Vikings, and would have happened with or without them.

Maybe they wouldn't need so many parking lots if they were in a less auto-dependent location? We've seen "notable" cases where players want to bike to practice rather than drive.

Oh sure they will. I've got the perfect site. Training camp isn't during flood season either, so win-win!

Q. What, what? A. In da butt.
Re: Minnesota Vikings Headquarters - Eagan
There's actually a large contingent of Vikings who prefer to Roller Blade to practice but can't because Winter Park is right off the freeway.

Biz Journal reports that:
The Minnesota Vikings' proposal to move its headquarters and practice facility to Eagan won unanimous approval in a preliminary vote by the City Council, the city's first public response to the plan.

Interesting how much hedging there is w/r/t the team headquarters move to that site.
The problem with being an introvert online is that no one knows you're just hanging out and listening.
Re: Minnesota Vikings Headquarters - Eagan
Not directly related to the Vikings plans, but the Dallas Cowboys' plans for a similar facility offer some clues as to what this might look like.

Is Chicago Ave > Vikings Way over and dead?
IMO we should rename 494 in Eagan "Vikings Way"
A small part of me does hope they ask to rename Dodd Rd.

Re: Minnesota Vikings Headquarters - Eagan
The current Winter Park facility in Eden Prairie is located on Viking Drive, Fox 9 studios and even the Lifetouch HQ have a Viking Drive address, so if they were able to convince one suburb to change a road name at one time, I'd imagine the hand wringing in Eagan over it wouldn't be too painful. We have a history of this in the burbs after all, what with Betty Crocker Drive and General Mills Blvd in Golden Valley as other obvious examples. Granted these names were changed when there were fewer potentially affected stakeholders that shared these streets, namely in the case of Viking Drive in EP as many more business of all sizes use that address than do in Golden Valley. Is Chicago Ave > Vikings Way over and dead?

Thy can put their Viking way on any road inside their campus which would be fine with me.

Not bad! It's an improvement over their Eden prairie facilities haha

Also, the Vikings and Minneapolis are both bidding to host the NFL draft possibly as early as 2019. The team wants to have it at their new headquarters but Minneapolis wants to have it downtown. The latter is usually where these are held but we are in uncharted territory as far as the NFL bidding out the location.

Tangent: That's the kind of article that highlights the inadequacy of the Business Journal. It's three paragraphs vaguely summarizing a Pioneer Press article, and for some reason that counts against their paywall.
