I was just laughing about that with my friend this morning. I'm guessing they aren't great on ice. Finally, what are their plans for winter?

When are these bad boys launching this year?
I thought they'd be out in conjunction with the NiceRide launch

Re: Electric Scooters
It seems that the city just got around to approving this year's vendors today, so it depends on how long it takes to get the actual contracts ironed out.
Of note: the four selected vendors this year are Lime, Lyft, Jump (Uber) and Spin. Bird sent out an email to their users this morning asking them to complain to the city about excluding them, which presumes a lot more brand loyalty than I think exists.

Re: Electric Scooters
Jump looks like they use the same brand as Lime. Which is too bad because I remember many Lime scooters breaking last year.
It’s interesting that they are capping city wide at 2K and downtown at 800, with a required 600 in North. All split evenly between the 4 companies. That sounds like a lot to manage.

By the end of summer, Lime and Bird were using a variety of scooter models in their fleets. I remember seeing smashed scooters out there, but I'd reckon they've updated since they were here last.Jump looks like they use the same brand as Lime. Re: Electric Scooters
I feel like it’s weird that they launched in St. Paul before Minneapolis. Also there’s still no signs of the other companies (Lyft, Jump, Spin) getting their scooters out there. I’m probably just impatient, but cmon I wanna get on one!To answer half of my own question, Lime scooters are on the streets in St. Paul. When are these bad boys launching this year?

Re: Electric Scooters
Same here. I had a opportunity to talk with Mayor Frey for a few minutes yesterday. As far as he knows, the only thing stopping them from arriving here is the companies themselves.I feel like it’s weird that they launched in St. Paul before Minneapolis. Re: Electric Scooters
Saw a Lime scooter this evening at Menards. Noticed they now have front lights so they can be ridden at night. I also see them on the map after dark.
Q. What, what? A. In da butt.

Re: Electric Scooters
Has anyone tried out the various scooter options? I’d seen Lime all over, now Spin started showing up.
Are there significant distinctions between services? Between scooters themselves?
I’ve never rented a scooter, I’d love to see a comparison by someone who has tried them each.

Re: Electric Scooters
I rented my first Lime the other day and it felt more sketchy than the Birds. It seemed like there was less foot room and, in general, like it was more dangerous. Did survive scoot from south end of downtown up to Central and 22nd, which felt like an accomplishment.
Re: Electric Scooters
It seems like there are far too few scooters in Minneapolis for this service to be useful, and sustainable. Every time we've tried renting, there haven't been two available within walking distance. We've even tried doing so in LynLake! Earlier this year we found San Antonio completely saturated with them. There were at least 3-4 providers and it seemed like there were a half dozen always available within a square block. In that sort of environment it's easy to see the community developing a dependency on the service. Has there been any news about increasing the saturation in Minneapolis?
