The Pioneer Press reports the MN Zoo Monorail is to be dismantled in the fall.
In the fall, the zoo will dismantle the monorail that has carried riders around the grounds since 1979. Ehmke said the monorail is outdated and will cost too much to repair. Riders' interest also has declined.
Transit geeks will be interested to know that it's currently possible to ride on three types of rail based Bombardier technology in the Twin Cities right now (light, commuter, and mono), a feat that might be globally unique.
