Some infill on 50th and Lyndale. Far south Lyndale north of the creek could really use more of this kind of thing.

Maybe the neighborhood won't fight this but I remember a proposed development two blocks over was NIMBY'd out of existence at the corner of 50th and Bryant, a commercial node with a bunch of restaurants, shops, drycleaners, etc. Proposal was to demo a single story retail shop and parking lot and put in an apartment building.

Granted this was before the 2040 plan passed.

Is the code itself updated yet to reflect 2040 plan? Hopefully 32 parking spots for 19 units will chill people out. Only one variance needed so not a strong opportunity for denial on the merits.

Vo's at 35th and Lyndale is for sale; so is the adjacent auto body shop property. 1/4 acre for both parcels. Not sure if the numbers work out at $1.35M for redevelopment.

Also a former auto body shop location may have soil remediation required if housing is built?

Who knows if it will be NIMBYed out of existence (it seems to meet code except for dumb setback requirements), but moved to next CPC meeting

My favorite argument makes an appearance: "we can't have residential development in our residential neighborhood."

I like how the implication is that whatever the specific density is, currently, of the particular neighborhood being discussed, that's somehow the exact right density, and anything more would be an affront to the laws of man and nature.
