Clover Center redevelopment withdrawn by the developer even though the city was sending signals that they would approve it. Stated reasons were "A variety of factors, most importantly COVID-19". The developer states they hope to restart the process from the beginning this spring.

Instead of two new grocery stores, we get zero...

That redevelopment was disappointing, it was right across the street from the Orange Line Let's build some density there!

"Brand Motors" electric car dealer proposed for the old Days Inn in the northeast corner of 494 and 100

People are speculating it's Tesla due to the design of the building and them being the biggest name in electric cars, but an expensive new construction building in highly visible real estate doesn't fit their current pattern of dumpy existing buildings.

That's definitely a future Tesla dealership! Do a Google image search, the rendering has their brand standards all over it.

This one has been an open secret for a while, and there was a major police response last winter when a couple of criminals were caught stealing copper pipes and wiring. They caught two right away, but couldn't find the third and spent hours searching the entire building and finally found him hiding above a dropped ceiling. But this is the first official word I've heard.

"Oxboro Heights", 125 unit, 155 parking space senior affordable housing project proposed in Bloomington. replacing two vacant industrial zoned parcels and an affordable single family detached house behind Popeye's at 93rd and Lyndale.

Image

Staff comments included the net result of the Opportunity Housing Ordinance reductions resulted in not very much common space for tenants, and suggested bigger balconies. Also worried about complaints from the proximity to the Popeye's drive-thru order board. The single family detached house is actually in the Protected Industrial Zone boundaries, but staff is comfortable rezoning it because the borders were intended to be guidelines, the house is of course not industrial, and it's unlikely industry would want such a small parcel.

Near West Bush Lake Road and 494, a vacant site along W. 78th St has a proposed 200 unit plus day care. https://www.bizjournals.com/twincities/ ... ycare.html

In the sliver of Bloomington north of 494.

The article says an old Life Time Fitness was there. Not sure how long ago that was vacated and demolished.

Looks like it hasn't had a LifeTime since at least 2008.

Looking at aerials from Google Earth and Hennepin County the building was demolished between 2006 and 2008.

For anyone curious here's Hennepin County's aerial photo website: https://hennepin.maps.arcgis.com/apps/w ... 75254b6cad
