Hehehe. No, it was not. We met in college way back when. Although Mrs.Shoes and her sisters and some friends and I all went to Bar Abeline a few years back for someone's birthday party somethingorother. Even in our late 20s we felt a little old and out of place. Nothing a few drinks couldn't fix ;)

Any guesses where this mystery might go?

http://blogs.citypages.com/food/2015/01 ... g_soon.php

BREAKING: Spill the Wine closed http://blogs.citypages.com/food/2015/01 ... closes.php

We're about to reach peak vacancy in LynLake. Someone better lease Cause and/or Falafel King soon...
Spill the Wine space has a tenant lined up: http://www.southwestjournal.com/news/ne ... -to-follow

It seems that some parking shenanigans prevented "Latin Hills Kitchen" from opening in their desired location, so it's coming to LynLake instead. Sounds good to me! I think it would have been funny to keep the "Latin Hills" name, just to taunt the Linden Hillsians, but I guess it'll be called "Tinto Cocina + Cantina" instead.

Is this Uptown?

The vacant Wendy's on Lake between Nicollet and Lyndale is going to be a Hook's Fish & Chicken.

As a resident, you surely know that Uptown is everything south of 94 and between 35W and the lakes.

What a weird company this Hook's is. I recall their unique logo from the Midway location in St. Paul, so I tried to find a website. It's apparently a national franchise (locations found in Florida, Ohio, etc.) but there does not seem to any corporate website. There are individual websites for those regional store groups, but they appear to be self-made by those local franchisees (i.e. not professionally made). How does one run a chain of restaurants (seemingly franchising out the name/logo and general menu) but not have a corporate entity online?

Man, how badly is the Kmart site just holding back the entire stretch between Lyndale & Nicollet? Someone has got to figure a way to get some development going on the eastern end of LynLake (i.e. those vacant lots just 1 block east of Lyndale) to prime the pump for future development eastward. Perhaps its time for the city to put out an RFP for the LynLake municipal lot for development+parking facility.

I didn't see the sign for myself, but apparently Jackson's at Lake and Bryant is closing on the 15th. My roommate said he was in there for coffee last weekend and noticed the sign. Can anyone confirm that?

According to their Twitter, new ownership as of the 15th, they are closing on the 12th. No word on what the new ownership is though.

There is a rumor that Urban Bean will be taking over that space http://mspmag.com/Blogs/Foodie-File/Dec ... d-Expands/

It's mentioned in the very last paragraph of that article.

Things in uptown don't stay vacant for long do they? Boneyard went straight to salsa a la salsa, spill the wine went right into a new thing, I guess the only one that needs to be picked up now is Bar Abiliene

Also Cause, Falafel King, Tatters, New restaurant space at Lime. Granted those are all LynLake, but I would consider Bryant/Lake to be LynLake too.

Serendipity Road has closed and transitioned to online only, which makes me sad since I LOVE the store. According to the below facebook event, "Serendipity Road will be transitioning online for 2015 to make room for a brand new business in our retail space." I wonder if the new retail is another concept by them or if it's someone new altogether. I'm investigating, but has anyone heard about this?

Since we're still going... Blue still has an empty retail bay as well, and that's been open since what? 2006? Louie's Wine Dive was JUST put in last year.

Isn't the prominent Calhoun Square space on Lake and Hennepin (under Republic) still empty?

Yes, but I believe I read somewhere (can't confirm this, sorry) that they are in negotiation with someone to lease that space.
