Re: Green Line LRT
Random side note to the new storage barn but I think it would be wise for Metro Transit to plan/create a new LRT vehicle drop off interchange around this area instead of solely relying on the one just north of Lake Street forever

First are we sure they are 100% going with inline middle lane platform stations like at Lake & 46th on 35W? Beyond obviously being ideal solution, they are probably the only workable solution as well that doesn't kill trip time. Dale/Victoria could make some sense as long it's part of freeway ca...

Re: Blue Line Extension - Bottineau LRT
While I get your larger point, I94 has to be crossed somehow & to imply grade separation in each location is the exact same set of variables is preposterousThey'll consider a two-mile-long bridge to get across I-94, but grade separation anywhere along W. Broadway is right out?

Re: Public Transit News / Current Events (MN only)
As somebody who almost never rides LRT into downtown, how bad is the problem actually ? And how much is it an operational problem that some dedicated tweaking of traffic signals and maybe supervision of station operations, or maybe stop consolidation, could fix? While the idea of a downtown tunnel ...

I would also speculate that that area is more likely to be used an expansion of the law school, Humphrey School or even Carlson vs medical space. A medical center expansion on the West bank would more likely be down by Riverside park, across from Augsburg or even a large demo/rebuild of the current ...

I mean it's looks like a St. Thomas building that happens to be an arena. Not sure what else anyone would expect?

Re: Minneapolis Population / Density - General Discussion
I was thinking about this over the holiday weekend would it be possible to create a color coded map classifying each parcel in a city on some scale from unused to highest and best use based on context of it's location. So for example a SFH in Longfellow would be highest and best use while the same h...

Re: Minneapolis Population / Density - General Discussion
Are there any good reasonably objective measures of how close a city is to being out of space? I feel like there is a good amount inherent subjectivity to that measure depending on how space is defined and if that space is at it's highest and best use.

Re: D Line - Chicago-Fremont/Emerson Rapid Bus
Also after speaking to an operator, he told me that the C-Lines transit signal priority was cut back and the D-Line has very little transit signal priority? Does anyone know if that's true? And if so why aren't more people talking about it. Transit signal priority was one of the cornerstones of aBR...

I'd much prefer red-light cameras over speed cameras, if we're piloting only one. Hopefully it's written in a way that allows for those too. I vaguely remember the state Supreme Court ruling red-light cameras were unconstitutional under the MN Constitution but I absolutely could be making that up/r...

Remember the DFL can't lose a single vote in the Senate so assuming they are going to tackle everything on the progressive & urbanist very long wish list is going to be setting yourself for a massive disappointment. Are there boxes they are going to check, absolutely. But it's not going everythi...

From the beginning wasn't one of the arguments for using rail vs bus completing the transit triangle between MSP, DT MPLS & DT STP? Not interlining with the Green Line feels like a really last minute idea at this point when for years the plan has always been assumed interlining is the right deci...

Or maybe MAK decided when launching her Gov campaign that she didn't want to been seen as the MPLS candidate and try to appeal to all Minnesotans. And easy way to do that is highlight rural roots on an easy press day

If you think those building are dull I have a few around the U I would like to sell you.
Starting with the University Office Plaza in the NW corner of that intersection.
Also this project needs even more housing.

Yup pretty much, but then what's the last building over 5 stories that's been significantly better than fine. Maybe 11 on the River but is it? Residential? Hard to say. The new city office building though is quite above fine. IMO. That's fair, I would rate that one noticeably above fine. The larger...

Don't the Wilf's/Vikings have some preposterous long, super controlling & super cheap lease on the land the Longhouse sits on?
It would be great to get that entire block redeveloped but that would like require the relocation of the ME building which currently doesn't seem to have any momentum.

Frontrunner for Senate DFL lead may be Nick Frentz of Mankato. Pretty middle-of-the-road DFLer from outstate who's in leadership now. Also watch for Foung Hawj of east St. Paul and Kent Eken of the Moorhead area (if he wins, which looks unlikely.) Both of them are leadership members, but don't nece...
