Re: Gold Line BRT - Downtown St. Paul to Woodbury
Yup, you found me! We filmed it last September or so and I totally forgot about the fact that we did this.

Re: Riverview Corridor Streetcar
I would say, the second one (more dedicated ROW + grade separation w/ single tracking) is much better than the mixed traffic double-track option. Once you have a reliable and predictable service, you can rely on the sidings to maximize your service level. Ottawa's Line 2 (Trillium Line) comes to min...

Re: D Line - Chicago-Fremont/Emerson Rapid Bus
As a tidbit to this discussion, buses are programmed to ask TSP permissions only when there's a delay that's more than one minute. If the buses are running on-schedule, or ahead of schedule, they won't ask for priority when approaching the signals.

Re: D Line - Chicago-Fremont/Emerson Rapid Bus
We already received all the buses needed for D Line operations. (They look identical to the diesel C Line buses so it's hard to tell from outside.) They'll operate out of Heywood for the time being, but I don't know the details on what will happen post-new Garage opening in 2023.

Re: B Line Lake St Rapid Bus, Midtown Rail Transit
Lake St reconstruction is not on the table as most of it was rebuilt around 2007-2008.
WB bus lane is prioritized (over EB) as it performs better in delay reductions/ensuring higher reliability, in a situation where you have to choose one direction only.

Re: Green Line Extension - Southwest LRT
IIRC, a dedicated maintenance base for SWLRT (in Hopkins) was deleted from the plan, so there wouldn't be a place to park and do maintenance works for the trains, notwithstanding trucking in/hauling out trains from/to the rest of the LRT system. EDIT: Seems like they did keep the O&M facility in...

Re: Hennepin Avenue Reconstruction (Douglas to Lake St)
My guess is that 6 (if it continues to exist post-E Line implementation as a duplicative local backup) will stay on Hennepin but simply not make a stop at 24th. i.e. NB stop after 25th will be Franklin Ave for both E Line and local routes.

Re: B Line Lake St Rapid Bus, Midtown Rail Transit
Oh boy, I wouldn't call that Olson Hwy & 7th St N intersection, or just 7th St N in general, a good location for testing cyclists' compliance. Heck, I don't feel like it's that patchy bike lanes and wide-open intersections in that area are good enough for cycling in general.

Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)
Never too late to add a "temporary" track from West Lake Station to Uptown TC on Midtown Greenway, and voila, we have direct access to B and E Lines.

Re: Blue Line Extension - Bottineau LRT
Before we dismiss and set aside cut-and-cover tunneling, I often wonder why we don't consider "cover-and-cut" (top-down) tunneling method as an option, where surface disruption can be reduced, as long as excavation portals can be accessed.

I have a feeling this is flying under the radar and probably not going to go anywhere, but this is an interesting idea that was floated around last weekend: Metropolitan Transportation Planning Board creation as part of the Department of Transportation establishment; Metropolitan Council authority o...

Re: Bottineau LRT (Blue Line Extension)
How I read it is, that the project team/consultants intentionally left the issue of "at-grade vs grade-separated" vague so these details can be ironed out as the project progresses further, hopefully with more public feedback. I see the ROW availability map as justification for grade-separ...

Re: Hennepin Avenue Reconstruction (Douglas to Lake St)
Lagoon Ave Transitway and turning Lake back to 2-way is such good idea! That really helps with the B/E Lines transfer issue and make Uptown TC in general more accessible.

I think the only supplier that has 60' articulated battery-electric bus out in the market is New Flyer. Maybe BYD?

Re: Hennepin Avenue (Franklin to 36th)
Option 1B seems most balanced to me, but I wouldn't complain too much if we "have to" settle with Option 2. I would reject any alternative that doesn't include two-way transit lanes. As a former resident who used to make left turns onto 25th from SB Hennepin, I am not too sympathetic to no...
