Re: Friendships and the Built Environment
I wonder if we can make a correlation with the recent headline grabbing study that says middle age whites rate of death is ridiculously high relative to peer countries (alarmingly so) and the social isolation inherent to North American suburbs. http://www.theatlantic.com/health/archive/2015/11/boom...

Re: Stadium Village
Nah it's nothing horrible. Just looks ugly from the outside. But the inside is fine. As I said, the biggest complaint I had was that you can't open any windows.

Re: Stadium Village
I lived there my sophomore year. Hideous building. Inside wasn't horrible but you couldn't open any windows which sucked. The gym was nice though. You lived there? I'm sorry....

Re: Suburbs - General Topics
Those are wants. Not must-haves.Everyone's version of a must-have is different, and they change over time. Why are those "must-have's"?
Most can get along just fine without those conveniences.

Re: Suburbs - General Topics
Why are those "must-have's"?Building new, because it will have all of today's must have features. Open Living concept, Master Bathroom, larger closets, laundry nearer the bedrooms vs in the basement somewhere, 2 car garage, etc.
Most can get along just fine without those conveniences.

Re: Bottineau LRT (Blue Line Extension)
Ugly road? This is a very beautiful road, with wide, green medians and mature trees galore. I wish 55/Hiawatha was as beautiful as this. I actually find Hiawatha fairly attractive, as far as highways go. I love the grain mills and the industrial grit feeling they give. Olson is bland and pseudo-sub...

Re: Minneapolis - St. Paul Business News
From everything I've heard the corporate culture at target didn't sound very conducive to actually making good business decisions or getting stuff done. It sounded more like a way for twenty-somethings to meet their future husband/wife and pay for drinks in uptown than a viable business environment...

They're building a new track facility in Saint Paul. An equal number of male and female athletes will be displaced.

Re: Rush Line Corridor (Alternatives Analysis)
Maybe it's just because I mostly grew up there, but I've always thought downtown White Bear was a hidden gem.
Man I wish they had this line when I was growing up.

Re: Twin Cities' National and Global Image
So here's one predictable response to the Atlantic "Miracle of Minneapolis" article: http://www.questionthepremise.org/new-blog/2015/2/17/about-that-miracle While there is obviously merit and truth to saying "Minneapolis is a great city for white people, but much less so for people o...

Re: Huron and Essex Hotel
Two points:
a)The rendering on the Daily page looks nice. It fits the area well.
b)Sucks that block on the west side of Huron will now be an empty field for the foreseeable future.

Re: Stadium Village
Good. It was always silly for there to be a Jamba Juice there AND in Coffman. Any more silly than having a Walgreens, CVS or now Target Express on just about every corner near campus? I wish those were there when I lived in Stadium Village a couple years back. Had to walk to Dinky to get ...
