So are they planning on replacing the rest of the windows on this portion of the building? I suspect the top floor windows were replaced because they redeveloped that into exercise room/party room/...

Anyone know if they are planning on replacing the windows with something more aesthetic?

Re: St. Paul Restaurant News
At the new Fitzgerald's (aka Salt Cellar). Pretty impressive:
The wraparound bar is huge.
Quite a few television, but they are not obtrusive - feels very upscale not like a sports bar.
I'm not a food person, so I can't report on that.

Re: Saint Paul - General Topics
Still miss being able to go to the Glockenspiel to get a nice selection of German beers. Or how about a British pub with a wide selection of British beers (like Brit's used to have years ago). Oh well, maybe there's not a market for those kind of bars anymore...

Re: Saint Paul - General Topics
Perhaps 271 W. 7th is just a speculative remodel like the former Fort Road Florists across the street (which has been sitting empty for a while now).

Anyone know what's going on at 271 W. 7th St. (one block west of the Downtowner Woodfire Grill)? It looks like any previous businesses have vacated and there's remodeling work going on inside all three storefronts.

Re: Rochester
Your description, "bulky", "sci fi futuristic", is what came to my mind also. Although I've never pictured the sci future in shades of beige. I guess I just like clean, simple designs (think LPM Apartment building in Loring Park).

From Finance & Commerce: "Estimates put the sales tax exemption for the soccer facility between $3 million and $5 million".
Doesn't seem like all that much.

Schafer Richardson project - 217 North Chestnut
Schafer Richardson pitches more housing near Xcel. 217 N. Chestnut - Just down the hill from the Opus development. I think that's a pretty desirable location. https://www.google.com/maps/place/217+N+Chestnut+St,+St+Paul,+MN+55102/@44.9425575,-93.1039635,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m2!3m1!1s0x87f62ab438a3bb19...

I noticed that the former Glockenspiel has banners in the windows with the words "Vítáme Vás", which is Czech for "We Welcome You". Is that a hint that maybe a Czech restaurant is coming?

Re: Mayo Expansion Proposal - Rochester
This isn't related to Rochester, but to Mayo Clinic in Florida. They just announced a $100 million dollar expansion to their campus in Jacksonville. In the 2+ years since the Rochester DMC became a reality, it really doesn't seem like much has happened. Some new construction at St. Mary's, but hard...
