Re: The Once and Future Dayton's
Imagine if this food hall is so successful that it became a chain name for other food hall locations! I think it be the first time a “failed” brand is brought back in a new capacity or at least in the retail market. Agreed. I hope this is just the jolt that Nicollet needs. Dayton's was not a "...

Re: Downtown Minneapolis General Topics & Development Map
It's apparently being built by K-A. They're proposing (hold on to your hats) a six-story stick-built apartment building with a WF branch in the base . (Locked) Hooray. 16 stories now https://mspsocial.net/@t54r4n1/100245503159870273 I went by this yesterday and noticed barriers being placed around ...

Re: Thor Construction HQ - Penn and Plymouth
I live three blocks from the new Thor building. My Homewood neighborhood facebook page hasn't had any updates about it. A while back there was discusion about a breakfast/sandwich/coffee shop going in the main level, but nothing has been done and there have been no, coming soon signs. There is a sma...

Re: Northside - General Topics
Fencing has been put up around the former Estes Funeral home at Plymouth and Penn in N. Mpls. The new much better looking building opened up across the street about three months ago. If I'm not mistaken, the clinic next door will be expanded on that site. I'm hoping for some retail and apartments to...

Re: Mortenson / USBank site - 333 Hennepin Ave E (290' - 26 stories)
This building shows up really well from Plymouth avenue in N Mpls, once you cross over the freeway bridge. NE is developing it's own skyline, can't wait for Alia to get finished. As far as this building goes, I'll wait to see how it interacts with the sidewalk. We can probably all agree that it is b...

FINALLY!!! I love that this buiding will be getting started. All these NEBL Nimby's can move to Stillwater if they want a quaint little river town. This will do nothing to destroy historic character, they knew that all along.

Re: Gateway Tower (RBC Plaza Jr.) - 30 stories - 458'
Nah, the guy on here who was pushing the conspiracy always referred to 500'. It's based around a fealty to the height of IDS. I would hope that there would be no fealty to the height of IDS, it hasn't been the tallest since Capella was finished out at 776 1/2 feet tall. Capella of course was never ...

This sentence: "There’s a new Dunkin’ Donuts being proposed for Snelling and Hague" was in this article: http://www.citypages.com/news/a-st-paul-starbucks-and-the-drive-thru-from-hell/479469783 . Is that related? I wish Dunkin Donuts would open some locations in downtown Minneapolis. Just...

Seriously? This is "too tall"? Why are some people in this city so afraid of tall buildings?

Another exciting addition to this corridor. I love the massing, the location, the colors. It will be a better use of this tract of land, and of course, bring more people to Prospect park. The Witches Tower is up high enough that I don't think views are going to be affected too much. If the new build...

Last week I went to Union Market in Washington DC, it's a huge food hall with a great variety of food vendors and lots of seating. I'm hopeful that this project turns out in a similar way.

Re: Downtown Minneapolis General Topics & Development Map
There must be more in there than a loading dock, right? It effectively doubled the size of the building. Work used to take me in there weekly (20 years ago)- quite a bit of the riverfront section is an enclosed double height dock designed for tractor trailers. I marked the approx. size here. There ...

Re: What wrong with our parks?
I would lobe to see something like Bryant Park in New York, here in Minneapolis. Been through it, and hung out in it, a few times in the last coupe of years. There was a place to get coffee and light snacks, performance space, lots of trees, and most importantly, plenty of places to sit and have con...

I remember this. Skyscraperpage has a diagram of it, just not sure how acurate it is to what was being proposed at the time.
