Re: Uber/Lyft
As I type, the CNN main page features an article titled "Lyft and Uber to cease operations in Minneapolis after new minimum wage law." At least there's a decent photo of downtown. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Whoa, did not know that. In that case, I hope the owners are able to re-build whatever they want!

Re: Dogwood Coffee : mixed use
I've felt this way for over a decade, but still scratch my head as to why. Aside from the economic/infrastructure draws already mentioned, the area is an easy bike ride or drive to downtown Mpls, the main U of M campus, and Minnehaha Falls / the river trail system in general. Not to mention proximit...

Marshall Avenue continues to see fairly steady redevelopment. Frana is underway on a decent-sized project just west of Snelling, looks like it is Marshall Flats...not sure if these renderings are still accurate, but I guess we'll see: https://www.stpaul.gov/sites/default/files/2021-09/210423_Marshal...

Re: Dogwood Coffee : mixed use
Awesome. One less vacant lot on East Lake and (maybe?) opportunities for other small businesses to move into the current Dogwood and/or Coven spaces. There was a proposal a couple years ago for a nice-looking mixed-use at 4301 E Lake (old Dragon City Chow Mein) but I haven't heard anything lately, w...

There's a tower crane up at Agra (the aforementioned old Perkins site). Very happy to see this project well underway. Not sure how updated this site is, but it's a nice-looking project: https://collagearchitects.com/agra

Small music venue coming to East Lake St. With the occasional shows at Urban Forage, plus Hook and Ladder and Moon Palace relatively nearby, it would be great if this area reaches a critical mass to become an unofficial district for smaller venues. https://racketmn.com/cloudland-music-venue-minneapo...

That way, the elementary kids at Maxfield Elementary can (continue to) suffer from extreme air pollution while playing on a fun N-shaped bridge! No. You can cap the entire area and landscape pathways for the letters. Right -- pathways, trees, boulders, other landscaping or built forms -- more creat...

Re: Interstate 94
The more lids along this stretch, the merrier, and any enhancement of bus efficiency within that framework would be great. This approach stores/gains political capital; adds potential for greenspace, public plazas, art installations, small businesses, community connections; and reduces the amount of...

What a difference the choice of cladding makes. Two new apartment buildings just east of Snelling, on Marshall. I actually kind of like the first one (a rare thing for me watching new apts go up these days). Looks even better in person, imo. The other one is good for comparison's sake, i guess. PXL_...

Thanks for posting the link! I got through part of it, was happy to hear the testimony of the supporters. Had to pause right when the first opponent was starting to explain how regional/commuter rail = BAD...probably saved myself some high stress moments as a result.

Re: Downtown Minneapolis LRT Tunnel Discussion
That awesome routing was one of my takeaways, too...stations underneath the MIA, IDS, central library, among others. If only. I would love to believe there's enough political will to build a deep tunnel under downtown Mpls. I'm doubtful, but would love to be proven wrong! Another challenge with the ...

Re: Downtown Minneapolis LRT Tunnel Discussion
There are a couple journal articles from 30 or so years ago that address issues with tunneling (for track and for stations) in the area. You can download one titled "Underground Station Design Issues for Light Rail Transit in the Twin Cities Geology" by John Carmody and Dr. Raymond L. Ster...

As hard as it is for me to give credit to Houston, kudos to that city for reducing homelessness over the past decade.
