Re: Future of the forum
Hey gang, paid another $108 for hosting last month if anyone wants to slip me some cash on Venmo at @Nick-Magrino. Also, does anyone want to take this over? I've had grossly underused hosting for ages and would be happy to stick this on my server. I've got a few questions, but go ahead and PM or em...

Ha. I kept meaning to post here that the old building has been knocked down, but then I forget by the time I get home after dropping the kids off at school.

Very true, which means we* should* theoretically* have an easier time getting rid of a county highway than a state one.

Re: MN Highway 7
Here’s one I did almost 8(!) years ago. I haven’t looked closely to see if any recent construction (buildings) would necessitate changes to various hypothetical streets, but the highway removal idea seems semi-valid still. 100and7-redone.jpg Full resolution: https://vault25.com/misc/urbanmsp/100and7...

Re: St Cloud
I went to St. John’s. I had an art history professor who’s a monk and he gave us a behind the scenes tour of the church, including a visit to the catwalk visible in the last pic. The space is amazing from the floor, but the view from above is something else altogether. The bell banner poking up abov...

Are you zoomed in or out? Do you get the same issue in a different browser? For real, am I the only one for whom the whole look of the board changed? All of the buttons are super small and everything is harder to navigate, but I can't find an option to change the appearance.

Anyone have a good argument for voting no on the strong mayor amendment? This isn't it. https://www.startribune.com/editorial-counterpoint-strong-mayor-plan-mainly-strengthens-white-elite/600104276/?refresh=true I dunno. Someone retweeted her thread into my timeline the other day and I found it com...

Re: Highland Bridge: Ford Site Redevelopment
That’s awesome. I drop the kids off at school over near here every day and on occasion will drive down to the hidden falls overlook and peek through the construction fencing. Seeing the trails and sidewalks and water connections come together has been a blast. Can’t wait to get closer as things open...

Re: Street, Road and Highway Projects
I’ve long had a wild idea in my head in which 77 gets the flyover and 62 gets widened — but in exchange for supporting freeway capacity, Minneapolis gets a calmed and pleasant Cedar Ave. That is, the connection from 77 to Cedar is severed, the viaduct over Nokomis goes away, and the grid is re-estab...

Re: Suburbs - General Topics
I didn’t take the article at all to imply the suburbs need more multi family housing specifically for PoC. The message I got was the suburbs need more multi family housing so the single family housing isn’t so expensive and unattainable. The woman from SLP can’t find an affordable SF house because S...

Re: Target Center Renovation
Even something as “small” as a basketball arena has some pretty significant clear span requirements for the playing surface and unobstructed sight lines. I can’t imagine how engineering a tower to literally sit on top would work. Next to or attached to, sure, but not actually on top.

Re: Freight Rail News and Happenings
A quick glance (followed by a long look) at the map of the merged system shows just how centrally-located the Twin Cities are. Equidistant (roughly) from the coasts and directly north of the longitudinal spine. As always, Chicago is the middle of everything and CP does have trackage/haulage rights b...

If an admin could add this somewhere in the CSS file, it would make them roughly the same height as the PHPBB smilies.

I found it! 42nd and Oakland. Google Maps doesn't have the bike lanes in street view, but the little green/white shed is a giveaway.

And toilet paper! All those shortages in the spring were because everyone had to poop at home instead of at the office and manufacturing and distribution channels weren’t set up for residential demand. It’s such a bizarre, small thing, but it’s very real.
