Re: Green Line (Central Corridor LRT)
That one was particularly out there for me as well. Maybe he thought he was in Chicago? Maybe there has been a discussion about this somewhere on this board (there must have been), but it seems MetroTransit could really do more to advertise its existing limited stop and express lines. Maybe brand t...

Re: Green Line (Central Corridor LRT)
This guy seems to think rail service should offer a speedy experience: "One value of a built-out, interconnected rail system is that time does matter end to end because it’s a connection. Theoretically, one should be able to leave St. Paul, hop on light rail, transfer in Minneapolis and take t...

Re: Stone Arch 2 - (520 2nd Street Southeast)
This appears to be complete and occupied? I couldn't tell for sure- it was dark out when I was in the area. It does appear to be occupied. I've seen people moving in. I don't think they have finished painting it (at least as of last weekend). I think they plan to paint it a gray, but there were def...

Walked by this weekend. The site is fenced off and an excvator is on site digging. I'd say this project has begun.

Re: 16Twenty - (1620 W Lake St)
I take exception to the idea that it's an "improvement to what's already there". Several older three story homes used as businesses in a predominantly residential mixed use area. I don't see the case for improving this. These types of properties are what make Uptown unique. I lived on Jam...

Re: 16Twenty - (1620 W Lake St)
16Twenty looks like a definite improvement over what is currently there and the proposed building height is about 45'. Hard to understand the opposition.

Re: 16Twenty - (1620 W Lake St)
This was approved by the Planning Commission agenda on Monday: http://www.minneapolismn.gov/meetings/planning/WCMS1P-124361 New PC member Meg Forney, representing the Park Board, was the only commissioner that voted against the completely non-controversial three-story project. I haven't watched the...

Re: Downtown Restaurant News
I didn't know whether to throw it in here or the North Loop forum, but work appears to have begun on converting the 3 story building attached to Deja Vu into the sports bar (named The Office) that was proposed a while ago. This includes a full restoration of the exterior, which I'm pretty excited t...

Re: Coze Flats - (628 University Ave SE)
The new rendering definitely doesn't look as nice as the original, but it does look like they'll be using a lighter colored brick at least about half way up the facade. IMO brick > concrete board, so...glass half full? They took the new rendering down from the fence around the site, so I couldn't co...

I thought I'd show how much space is available next to the station for development. It is actually a fairly decent size for something more substantial. https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-nv4CECLFss8/U2bzy5Box7I/AAAAAAAAAtU/jNCxGZ4FAug/w750-h562-no/20140505_00811.jpg Retail exterior looks nearly fini...

Re: Junction Flats - (643 Fifth Street North)
So many facade materials! It actually looks like it will turn out relatively well, but I am definitely not sold on using 4-6 different styles of brick/metal paneling/concrete board on every new 6-story apartment building. I think some of the most aesthetically pleasing developments from the ongoing ...

You can start to imagine how this is going to look now as it peeks over the Fulton Brewery. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-HWsSjorpSd0/U2bzxEt230I/AAAAAAAAAto/yBDPSzYidh0/w750-h562-no/20140505_00761.jpg Looks like two floors of parking underground. https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-1d2c4Zh-6iE/...

^^^I can't tell from the photo but I hope they avoid installing already warped metal paneling on the side of this apartment building like so many have done. The infill with these apartment projects is great, yet the workmanship and craftsmanship in the construction process leaves much to be desired...

Re: Downtown East Project (Ryan Companies / Wells Fargo)
The demolition of the newer Star Tribune building is going much more quickly than I had thought. I saw it from the stadium webcam sometime this week and I could have sworn twice as much of the building was still standing than what can be seen in this pic from this afternnon: https://lh6.googleuserco...

Re: Mill & Main Phase II - (425 Main Street Southeast)
They have the sixth floor started and it is already nearly as tall as Phase I. Since they're going up to seven this one should be slightly taller. The height differential should add some variety at least. https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-4zh0NUdUUNk/U2bzv5GyLAI/AAAAAAAAAsY/p8NeikyrQ7g/w750-h562-no...
