Re: Video Games
I have it in my Steam library, but I don't think it actually runs on modern computers.
Re: Video Games
I have railroad tycoon II for LINUX! It probably still works since X11 is generally backwards compatible.I think the Linux version might even be freeware.
Re: Video Games
I've got the Steam version on Windows 7 and it works, I fired it up today. (I'm desperately trying to stave off finally beating Final Fantasy VII) I'm pretty sure they rework the rereleased games so they work with modern operating systems.
There's a Minnesota scenario in it that by itself absolutely worth the $4.99 for the whole game on Steam. If anyone wants to play multiplayer some time...

Re: Video Games
If I'm gonna play a train game, I'd rather it be OpenTTD. Great multi-player, though no accurate Minnesota/Midwest map, I think the random maps are pretty good.
Re: Video Games
I still have it in Steam as well, though I haven't played it in a year or so.

Re: Video Games
I have it for Mac, but it won't run on Intel systems. Too bad, because I loooooooooove the RR Tycoon games. I can't tell you how many hours of my life were lost to them. And I don't regret a thing
The problem with being an introvert online is that no one knows you're just hanging out and listening.
Re: Video Games
I got OpenTTD a while back after someone mentioned it here--thought it was fun for a bit for sure but it seemed really easy to do well. Once you have enough money for planes you pretty much print money.

Holy crap, I thought I was late to the game by beating FF7 in 2004. My buddy walked in to my dorm and asked why I was using Aeris, and totally gave away that part of the game since he assumed I had played it already..I've got the Steam version on Windows 7 and it works, I fired it up today. Re: Video Games
I *still* haven't beaten FF VII. I was very near the end and decided to go and rack up Chocobos and other goodies. I never got back into the main story and then my roommate beat it and I just never had the motivation to finish it off. I should dust it off and re-play for nostalgia's sake.Holy crap, I thought I was late to the game by beating FF7 in 2004. FF VII is the whole reason I bought a Play Station. I hadn't played console games since the original NES before that.
Now I see PS4 isn't going to stream my music. Guess I'll be skipping that one.
Re: Video Games
I got the Gold Chocobo and the Knights of the Round materia...waiting for a free weekend afternoon to make it through Northern Crater all at once. I never beat it as a real young (like 9???) kid, though I did beat VIII and IX back in the day. Picked up VII in a Steam sale a while ago.
But, railroading, anyone?

I loved RRT2, TT/TTD, All the Quest games (Kings, Police, Space, etc), etc
There was a German transit planning game with bad urban growth components but you built streets and could design bus routes and track ridership. Wanted that in SC

Re: Video Games
Cities in Motion? I was looking at that the other day. I wiiiish that someone had taken the pathfinding and route building from Cities XL and grafted it into SimCity 4 or equivalent. Too bad about the SimCity rerelease...

Re: Video Games
I'll cop to having liked Sim City Societies quite a bit, at least with the Destinations expansion. I think it's a fine game if you don't expect it to be another iteration of Sim City and let it be its own thing. I wish the maps were larger and the transportation options were more sophisticated, though I didn't miss having to mess with water and power grids.

Banished
It came up in another thread, so at least two other people are interested in this game. Well, it comes out today on Steam. I know what I'm doing tonight.

Re: Banished
And you can buy it straight from the dev right now, and still get a Steam Key. Best of all worlds!
