Not exactly downtown, but repair work on the Band Box Diner seems to have started. Saw someone in there last night as I went past.

This is good, bringing life to empty storefronts on Nicollet is needed! The medium-cursed Ling & Louie's/Randle's/Rojo space is getting a new tenant next month, according to Axios, with a rooftop patio on the roof (obviously), a lounge on the mezzanine, a Joey Meatballs on the ground floor, and a dance floor in the basement. Should be pretty cool.

When Angle Bakery moved the owners of Hells Kitchen said they had different plans for the space, now we know what those plans are.No mention of why Angle Food Bakery moved in this articleLooks like now we know why Angle Bakery moved:

Almost a year to the day that covid unexpectedly closed everything down, we finally have a fun announcement about Angel Food’s future!
But first, with the continuing blows about offices & business not coming back any time soon, I have exhausted all my options for the business surviving in the downtown area. I adore Minneapolis and cannot wait to see it shine again, but, unfortunately, after just shy of 9 years it is time for us to say goodbye to downtown.
(I was just trying to make an offhand joke on what I presumed was you making a joke about there being no mention of 'Angle Food Bakery', while 'Angel Food Bakery was obviously named prominently in the article...)Would you take the word of the business owner? https://www.instagram.com/p/CMVfJYTlMbm/

I hope they re-open somewhere else, they were my favorite gyro place downtown. Seems like all tenants were kicked out of Northstar for the renovations. Was sad to see Greek Grill & Cafe in the skyway at Northstar Center is now closed. Where can I get my gyro fix downtown now??
