Uptown tavern will be closing for good on October 22nd after 17 years per there Facebook. Always sad to see long time business close.
Hopefully something new takes its place as it has a great space

I am shocked they made it that long! Could be a potential redevelopment on this site with Cowboy Jacks and Tavern being closed.

I hope there isn’t a redevelopment, those are great commercial spaces that could serve the neighborhood well if they are filled by new businesses. There are many sites nearby that would be much better spots for redevelopment, starting with the McDonald’s drive thru/parking lot across the street.

That was true in 2013 when it was a great multi-tenant building. Since then, Cowboy Jacks really screwed that building up. Uptown Tavern is also not a great floor plan, as the floor is literally raised off the sidewalk about 2-3 feet.

If this were to get new businesses it would likely be 2 very similar concepts, bar with rooftop, and the weird central retail space.

Tear it down, open the floor plan up for flexible retail uses, and start new.

A new live music bar looks to be opening in the former uptown pour house space.

I'm assuming this includes when the business was called 'Drink', per the 2007-2011 streetview imagery and my own foggy memories from '10-11.

Williams peanut bar is rumored to have closed after 50 years.
1400 Lagoon looks to have a new tenant moving in not sure what exactly. I heard the owner of the Armory has something planned for it.
A new balloon shop is opening at 2455 Hennepin Ave

Not breaking news, but pretty crazy how completely dead Lake and Hennepin was last night on what’s generally one of the better drinking nights of the year. A surreal scene. There are half a million people in this city and about 50 of them appeared to be at the remaining three Uptown bars. Y’xll need to start going out again.

Is this a tipping point for Lake and Hennepin to return to being a large neighborhood node instead of an attempted regional shopping/partying attraction?

Hard to say, once the uptown theater renovation is done that should be a shot in the arm for nightlife in the area. I think the pourhouse is being renovated into a concert venue as well, although there are very few details available about it at the moment. I’d guess that there will be fewer bars than in the past, though. With pourhouse, Williams, uptown tavern, and slims all closing in the last few years it’s hard to imagine four new bars taking their place.

Bulldog and CC Club were packed :)

Lyn-Lake was super busy from friends I heard from that went down there afterwards.

I'm okay with Lake/Hennepin reinventing itself. Uptown Arts & Rec looks super fun, and I can't wait to check it out. Something is definitely brewing for the old Uptown Tavern space. It's going to be fine.

Ties has moved into the former uptown tavern space and is also planning to open a county bar in the former cowboy slims space. They will also be combining the rooftop patios

Sidewalk in front of The Bohen in Uptown is now open, as well as the sidewalk along the greenway.

The building next to Leaning Tower of Pizza has been taken down. Is something good going up here?

Is this the vacant slumlord building that had the massive fire in December?
