That isn't surprising, it was never busy when I stopped in and half the time you couldn't find what you wanted due to the small store front.

I guess I would go after work and it was decently busy. Disgraceful by target

The small format Target Stores are frustrating because they often charge more for goods than their larger counterparts. I've learned to avoid them based on that experience. However, it's a big loss for the neighborhood, particularly for people who don't drive.

They also have an extremely limited stock. My partner moved in recently and walked there for a few items. Came back with a gallon of distilled water and said we need to go the real Target. Chicago has a ton of real urban Targets, but God forbid they build them in their home city.

Yep, I would guess a normal city target (80K sq ft) somewhere around here would be viable. Wonder if one was considered at Seven Points? Or the k-mart parcel seems logical...

I would shop here regularly when I lived in Uptown '18-'22. It was great. Daily essentials, coffee, bananas, and frozen pizzas a short walk away in a more walkable format than the Cub or Lunds. It was open until 10 pm and 11 pm Saturdays pre Covid & civil unrest. I still stand by my claim that Uptown is the most walkable neighborhood in the Midwest outside of Chicago, but every closing hurts that and this is probably the most impactful yet. I fear it'll be a tough space to backfill.

This location closes at 8pm now while the Cub is still 24/7 - Even though that Cub is about 1.5x to 2x more expensive than other Cubs. Also Aldi is a God send.

I agree that this will be very tough to backfill. That's the most unfortunate thing. CVS and Walgreens have established locations too close to this one, so maybe DGX? Is the one on nicollet mall doing okay?

DGX and Trader Joe’s come to mind as potential replacements, but they both have stores relatively close by. I live in uptown and shop at the SLP Trader Joe’s. I would shop at the uptown one if it existed, but I wouldn’t be a new customer for them

The Target in Edgewater is great. The store sits above the parking and has pretty much everything that Target carries. Always busy.

So, tear down and new apartment on the greenway? Or maybe a renovation for a new Lifetime location?
