Not. Apparently your job doesn't count on you needing to get from point A to point B.Just saw a bunch of protestors marching past my office on 35W. The whole freeway was shut down northbound. What a beautiful sight!

I'm more worried about people who count on air to breath being choked to death by an out of control and unaccountable law enforcement officer.

I love when people get really mad at demonstrators on roads. It's a delay for a cause sorry for inconveniencing you, would you have rather been choked to death?

I only wish I had known about this earlier. I would have joined in!

Ditto. They really don't publicize these very well.I only wish I had known about this earlier. I would have joined in!
Re: Interstate 35W
This. Considering what's going on, complaining about a longer commute (THE HORROR!) seems petty and privileged.I'm more worried about people who count on air to breath being choked to death by an out of control and unaccountable law enforcement officer.
Re: Interstate 35W
Or you can always have the best of both worlds. Police help protestors get where they want to go and demonstrate for a cause while warning drivers and providing a nearby alternative route.

Re: Interstate 35W
So, if someone doesn't like an interstate being shut down he's somehow selfish, privileged, and likes people being choked to death? Give me a break. You are precious, precious people.
Protest all you want, I could not care less. I just suggested that some people may not share your view.
I guess that makes me a bad guy.

"My fast commute is more important than people demanding their civil rights."
That's what you sound like. Yes, if you would rather the Interstate be open than people demand their civil rights, that makes you selfish and privileged. And you may not like people being choked to death, but you're loath to sacrifice anything to put a stop to it.

Re: Interstate 35W
Will there be an official release wherein the MPD delineates which groups of protesters the police will and will not escort as they obstruct the busiest road in the state? Or should we just look into our so-progressive hearts for that answer?

Re: Interstate 35W
I have mixed feelings on this. FIRST, the fast food protesters are crazy thinking they are entitled to $15/ hour. Sorry, but no way dude. Get some in-demand skills or education then talk about your job hunt.
Now, I completely support the aspect of protesting the murders of Eric Garner and Mike Brown. The police have long been militarized in the name of the war on drugs and its polluted the culture of police departments across the country to the point we cannot stand the stench. Carry on the fight for equality and accountability.
Lastly, the location is frustrating. Do we need to impact regular commuters and interrupt travel? I don't like it but I guess its one way to make your point.

Re: Interstate 35W
If you think 35W closed off is inconvenient, just imagine how inconvenient it is being black.
Re: Interstate 35W
Your opinion is wrong you privileged, free flowing freeway loving piece of sh*t. Drive your gas hungry Hummer back to the low-density suburbs and die. /sarcasm Let's be honest, UrbanMSP/ streets.mn forum... whatever probably isn't the most impartial place to discuss this. So, if someone doesn't like an interstate being shut down he's somehow selfish, privileged, and likes people being choked to death? Re: Interstate 35W
Perhaps I should ask my wife or the "black" half of my kids then.....although I have been mistaken by the fabulous MPD as a "Latino" and accosted for no justifiable reason as well.If you think 35W closed off is inconvenient, just imagine how inconvenient it is being black.
I watched this from my office tower. I am glad nobody was injured but let's admit that it is illegal for pedestrians to be on the freeway although I have never been one to care too much for law.

Re: Interstate 35W
It's illegal for pedestrians to be on the freeway, but homicide is also illegal so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
