Block E (archive)
Re: Block E
Sid Hartman reports that the Timberwolves/Lynx hope to be moved in to a new Block E practice facility by the start of the 2014-15 NBA season and they hope to finalize the agreement soon.
Re: Block E
Once they sign the contract , the renovation will begin quickly. I'm thinking early spring. I also think once the agreement for practice facility is etched in stone, the other renovated spaces will lease out rapidly. This is an exciting and dramatic project which will be fun to watch under construction!

Re: Block E
Mayo putting in something, what I had been seeing. Maybe an official announcement of it?
Re: Block E
It would be a miracle if they were able to whip something up.

Re: Block E
Mayo will uproot its Rochester campus and lay stake in Downtown Minneapolis at Block E, and will house half it's current staff and hospital beds all in one building on that block.
That's my guess.

Re: Block E
An earlier article noted that other NBA teams have sold naming rights to practice facilities. The Cavaliers' facility is named after Cleveland Clinic.
This is pretty exciting. It finally buries the Block E name that has been associated with failure for decades (minus the couple years when the new iteration was successful). It also gives the Mayo brand a visible presence in the Twin Cities that, up to this point, has been surprisingly non-existent.
EDIT: I'm actually thinking it's time for a new thread. The first few pages of this one are about the damn casino proposal. We should lock and archive this one.

Re: Mayo Clinic Square (formerly Block E)
The name change alone is worth it for me. I'm excited to see the remodel, can't happen soon enough!!
