Mayo Clinic Square
Re: Mayo Clinic Square
In twinkess's defense, none of those things are visible from inside the building. I bet that vertical screen will be a menu board, though.

Re: Mayo Clinic Square
I went by the other day and thought this entry seemed kind of strange, as it looks like there's a bit of hallway between the Mayo Clinic Square atrium and the inside of City Works. Seems like you'd want passersby to be able to see some activity.
Although it's more oriented toward the street, which is good I suppose.
As for signage, I'm fairly certain there was something more descriptive on the Hennepin Ave side and visible from the skyway.
Re: Mayo Clinic Square
Thank you. I should have been more clear that that is the angle I was talking about. Tough crowd in here!In twinkess's defense, none of those things are visible from inside the building. I bet that vertical screen will be a menu board, though.

Re: Mayo Clinic Square
I do actually but only a drop and only if grease wont come out. Afterwards I re-coat with oil before putting away.Just wait until you tell us wash your cast iron skillet with soap...
Re: Mayo Clinic Square
Just to flying wildly off topic (and not knowing the history here), I learned to clean my cast iron from Eric Ripert (via twitter).
Heat the sucker over high heat until just about smoking, toss in some coarse salt (added abrasiveness), scrub with a wire brush, remove from heat, dump salt, season with some oil, wipe with a clean/paper towel. No water, no soap.

Re: Mayo Clinic Square
Wire brush sounds risky. I'm literally trembling just thinking about it.
Towns!

Hot water and one of these guys is all you'll ever need. Works like magic. Seasoning is to die for.

HUGE! I hope they just move their headquarters from Minong, Wisconsin to Minneapolis
Jack Link's nears deal for Mayo Clinic Square offices and retail space

Gist:
Minong, Wis.-based food manufacturer Link Snacks Inc. is planning to occupy several different types of spaces on the first floor of the building at 600 Hennepin Ave. formerly known as Block E, according to sources who declined to be named to protect business relationships.
The space will total between 30,000 and 40,000 square feet and include an interactive branding experience near the intersection of Hennepin and South Sixth Street (where Border's Books used to have a store), according to a source who is familiar with the plans but who requested anonymity because the deal hasn't been finalized. The company's planning a demonstration kitchen with big windows along Seventh Street to make the ground-level seem more active.
Along Sixth Street, Jack Link's plans to partner with a new bar or restaurant to have a tasting room or menu featuring Jack Link's products. That bar would be separately owned by an undetermined entity. Jack Links also plans to lease a small amount of interior office space within the first floor and possibly the skyway level, the source said.

Interesting. They've already got offices in Butler North. Wonder what they're going to do with those.

Re: Mayo Clinic Square
Link Snacks had about 36 marketing, sales, product development, IT and accounting employees in Minneapolis working out of about 20,000 square feet in the Wyman Building as recently as 2014. That year it leased an additional 20,000 square feet in the nearby Butler Square building.Interesting. They've already got offices in Butler North. Wonder what they're going to do with those.
Today, the company's Minneapolis headcount is closer to 200 and is growing toward 300 with the Mayo Clinic Square expansion, according to one source.
Looks like MC squared is additional space.

Re: Mayo Clinic Square
I know they've been posted here before, but here's the available space for lease
Second floor: http://www.joneslanglasalle.com/MediaRe ... 110515.pdf
First floor: http://www.joneslanglasalle.com/MediaRe ... 110515.pdf
So you can guess where they'd fit 30,000-40,000 sq ft.

What's an interactive branding experience? Playing with the Yeti?
That map shows 37k USF and 43k RSF on the first floor. I'm not sure what those acronyms mean exactly, but, assuming they stay just on the street level, it looks like they'd be taking pretty much all of it. Cool!

Re: Mayo Clinic Square
This sounds amazing! Even better for us, is that they chose to do it downtown. They could have easily put this in the Mall of America. My hunch is the Superbowl effect was a big part of the decision process. Hope they can execute this well.
My assumption is that official HQ will always be in WI (where the old rich guys live) while the majority of operations are located in Minneapolis (where the talent is). See Schwan's Foods and Arctic Cat.HUGE! I hope they just move their headquarters from Minong, Wisconsin to Minneapolis

Re: Mayo Clinic Square
You know what'd look good in that space at 1st and 7th? An Adidas store.
Adidas colors are blue, white and black. Those are the same colors that MC^2 is. Adidas likes to focus on basketball. Well, MC^2 is right across from a basketball arena that's about to get a fresh new look. The space is also next to one of the most respected music venues in the whole US. The people who go are going to First Ave are into Adidas and would likely love to shop there before the show.
