Yep, that will be the bigger tower. I share your theory that the other two Healthcare Lane (Data Park) buildings were efficient designs so they kept with it.

Knowing the key players behind that development personally I can almost guarantee it.
Re: United Health Corporate HQ - Eden Prairie
So is the 15 story tower going to look like the other tower - except taller?

I'd wager on it.....in fact, I'd give it 3:2 odds of happening (67%).

I see the creativity is blossoming at my former digs!
Thanks for the pics btw! you'd think they'd want to showcase their largest building more than just showing 1/3 of it though.

When you drive by these buildings (the 2 newest) they look much darker than the renderings. The glass is black, not the grayish-blue in the rendering above.

Here's an aerial shot showing the two new buildings on Shady Oak with the two Healthcare Lane twins in the background. The HQ building is just to the left back there.

Just a quick update on this one; I drove by today and they are up to the 5th story on steel and about 10 stories on the elevator shafts.

Wonder if there will ever be a bike/ped crossing of 62 to allow for connectivity between the campuses. It would be a relatively short walk, right?

Re: United Health Corporate HQ - Eden Prairie
It's deceiving because of all the twists and turns back there, I'd bet it's almost a mile by the time you get there even if you had a tunnel or bridge. Not that it's any great distance, but the typical person wouldn't likey walk over to the other campus for a meeting.

Why build a tower when you have all that land? Why not a flat squat building?

There's also a lot of wetland in there, which they'd have to replace if they built on it.

Foresight. Maybe they plan on growing even further, save the land for future expansion later down the road. Why build a tower when you have all that land? Why not a flat squat building?

Re: United Health Corporate HQ - Eden Prairie
The next time they expand or when those buildings become obsolete for them they BETTER think hard about moving downtown! However, I know their approach to real estate is to rent (not own) Class B space (to be "modest", ha!), so anything new downtown would go against the grain of their M.O. for operating their real estate portfolio (Easily 18M SF nationwide).

Re: United Health Corporate HQ - Eden Prairie
Maybe they can move some folks to "hip C" space in the Northstar or Baker blocks?
Re: United Health Corporate HQ - Eden Prairie
Hm, according to Phorio, this building will be 243 feet tall. That's pretty tall for the burbs.
Re: United Health Corporate HQ - Eden Prairie
I don't agree that every single major company in the area should be downtown, I'm certainly glad Blue Cross is not. But what about United offering employee bicycles like Blue Cross does. Now that Blue Cross has sold their Waterview building and vacated Eagandale, all the employees still working in the Eagan offices are in bicycle distance of each other. Provided of course you care to cross Highway 13 on a bicycle.
